It will never happen mate,St. Georges Day is considered racist/facist by too many people.[/quote]
When has it ever been properly celebrated by the whole country?
Can someone provide some historical perspective?

I agree,it never has been. After Euro '96,people tried but it never took off,and lately all the EDL carry on has tarnished it.I don't bother. In fact after Euro 2004,(when myself an two mates were advised, by a community policeman, that wearing England shirts while walking through town,"Could cause offence"),I have never worn one,or watched an England match in a pub.

It's ignorant cunts like you that let the rest of your nation down. There have always been Irish pubs in England, and the majority of Irish people that have worked and/or lived there do not support terrorism you fucking moron.scfc64 wrote:On St George's day we should log on to an Irish forum and see how they'll be celebrating the day and what the English really mean to them ?Rugby Gooner wrote:A mate and I went for a couple of cold ones today in a little back street pub.We had been there half an hour or so,along with about a dozen other customers when five lads came in,dressed in celtic tops,(and a couple with those big foam Guinness hats),cool.A couple of pleasant hours passed, the Guinness flowed,(for them),and The Pogues etc played on the jukebox. Then it started."Fucking Brits" this,"English c**ts" that. The landlord asked them,"Can you keep it down a bit lads",which was greeted with more anti British "repartee."A couple more pints of the brown stuff later, they took offence at the "Help for Heroes" collection tin behind the bar.Again the landlord asked them to keep it to themselves. This time, they threatned to have him "knee-capped",and his "Fucking Brit pub done."At this point the landlord, and a couple of regulars pushed them out the pub.As they left, they spewed more anti British bile, and kicked over a few plant stands etc.

Thirty odd years ago the Irish where the number one terrorist suspects and now thirty years on they have Irish theme bars and pubs on every major high street in the land.
So that said,in thirty years time from now will we see Al-Qaeda theme bars popping up eveywhere ? Oh lordy, enjoy St Pats day!

Another ignorant cunt. By your reckoning all English people are racist, hooligan scum then? Because we could judge all of you based on the "antics" of a minority of the fans of your national team abroad, couldn't we? Yeah, if we were all thick fuckers like you. You need to be fucking educated you fucking idiot.Rugby Gooner wrote:A mate and I went for a couple of cold ones today in a little back street pub.We had been there half an hour or so,along with about a dozen other customers when five lads came in,dressed in celtic tops,(and a couple with those big foam Guinness hats),cool.A couple of pleasant hours passed, the Guinness flowed,(for them),and The Pogues etc played on the jukebox.

Think this thread should end now....we can all sling mud at all other nationalities or religions etc..There are many people in Ireland who hate St.Patrick's Day and that is a shame. Their (mine included) hatred for the day comes from the mindless orgy of drinking which turns into mindless violence and vandalism..The shame is that it should be a day of celebration for families to watch parades etc. I have no objection to a few pints to round off the day, but it's an all day orgy when kids are forgotten and let run wild. Underage drinking is out of control. Then as the day goes on the "bar stool republicans" slobber their stupid opinions. As said earlier Rangers losing on TV would add to the night. Same idiots will be back in the pubs tomorrow or Sunday with their Man U or Liverpool shirts on..
I am Irish , I'm proud of it, I'm proud of our history and those who made it. I am also an Arsenal fan and have been for 40 years. I joined the Online Gooner Forum to read and express views on the Club I love. We as Arsenal fans detest the xenophobia in the media about Arsenal and their players. This forum shouldn't become a forum for xenophobic views. This is about Arsenal and expressing many contrasting views about Arsenal and football in general. No harm to occasionally go off the subjects, but it shouldn't develope on the lines of this thread..

DB10Gooner,I hope that your comments about being racist etc were not aimed at me. It was scfc64 that made the commenta about Al Queda bars etc,(that would be funny though as muslims are anti-alcohol!),and the ones about Irish bars.I was brought up to treat everyone with respect, and although I don't always succeed,I try.I was merely recounting a St. Patricks Day afternoon in a local pub to put all the "Isn't paddys day a great day with no trouble" stuff into perspective. So before you call someone a *word censored*,get the target for your abuse right!

I am not judging anyone, just showing that there is another side to it.If I upset you,I apologise, but your remarks are out of order. If you read another post related to this subject,I no longer wear England shirts,go to England matches.or watch them in pubs:- for two reasons,DB10GOONER wrote:Another ignorant cunt. 1, schools in England,(via political correctness),have left alot of us ashamed to have been born here.
2, I,and a couple of mates,in 2004 were told by a community copper, that the wearing of our England shirts while walking through town.(we were on our way to watch a match),could cause offence! The two Slovakian lads that we were with,(we worked with them and were taking them out for a beer as they were new to the place),thought that it was hilarious that wearing our national shirts,in our own country, could be questioned in that way.I have never worn an England shirt since that day.
And by the way,I am educated you wanker,to degree level!
