1) We have become a selling club needing to sell in order to still compete.
It's little wonder that we sold £40M on Kolo and Ade and then spent around the same on TV5 & AA23!!
2) Wenger youth project worked SO much in the boards favour that he choose not to spend and thus hence why over a £100M was wiped from the loan debt in a season.
Point 1 is dead wrong - we never spent 40 million on Arshavin and Vermaelen unless you add in wages which is a highly decpetive and frankly poor way of doing business. After all we don't include wages no longer paid in transfer sales profits. One could almost argue that is a decpetive business practice as it mis-represents the real investment back into the team We bought Arshavin for 15 million and Vermaelen for 10 million - hardly the same as what we sold Toure and Adebayor for at all.
Point 2 is dead wrong too. First off it would not be the manager's place to make that decision on his own at any top club unless they were paying him to make that decision specifically. Second, the 100 million you refer to came from the profits from the Highbury re-development paying off that loan in 2010, there was no additional reduction on the stadium debt
beyond our annual obligation to service that debt.
We basically eliminated a portion of debt we never had to incur had we sold Highbury. And the extra 30 million or so of profit we made after that(beyong the 70 million we would have made by selling Highbury) hasn't reduced the stadium debt by a penny to this date. It's only helped to reduce our net debt which helps increase - get ready - our share price. Funny that....

Boomer wrote:I wouldn't surprise me if it was a combination of both 1 & 2.Also I wouldn't be shocked (I now you also speculate also) to hear if Wenger even approached the board and suggested these points.
Ahhhh yes the old coincidence theory....Arsene Wenger just decided to this on his own and the Board just were happy to let him and got very very lucky.
Of course its already undermined by the fact that you theory is rather highly flawed in both the previous points you make, so while you commend you for making your case in detail I suspect it relies too much on pure speculation and avoids more informed speculation and thinking beyond the information itself that we
do have at our disposal even now.

Doesn't matter what you say to USMarty.
He'll just keep on playing the same old tune on the board.

I absolutely have no issue with what he assumes/presumes/opines etc etc
HOWEVER
My gripe is that this topic (that he has absolutely torn the arse out of) is proclaimed like a royal decree at every opportunity, even on an unrelatedly subject.
Don't get me wrong, it is an important subject, but every fucking time!!!!
I know that this will incur another long sarcastic tit boring post but hey ho!
If a tit thread hasnt been affected yet it's only a matter of time before the board get blamed for the breasts not being big enough!
