Jay Emmanuel-Thomas

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What do you mean "pinning our hopes on"?

Not really, we were just optimistic that while they were playing well they might have a role for us next season if they kept it going. They haven't kept it going and they haven't pushed on so they wont have a role next season. Simples.

I dont think anyone seriously saw them as anything other then potential squad filler. Could be wrong though. But its never happened before. 8)

They fact that many on here are pinning theire hopes on them doesn't worry me in the slightest. It's the fact that the unsackable Turnip is doing the same is what frightens the SHIT out of me.

Many times on here ive read next season is going to be the one a couple of signings and JET and Lansbury added we will do the business. That might not be pinning their hopes but certainly putting them well above their station, those 2 that havent done much in lower level football and we are meant to believe they will propel us on?

I had high hopes for JET (based mostly on hype and youtube vids) but having watching him last night my god how wrong was I?

He is pretty much identical to Diaby both is stature and style, always seems to be playing at around 50% pace, can probably do something amazing once every few games because he's got the skill and it all falls right but other than that he's just a lump!

Awful first touch, lazy slow and indecisive. Cardiff fans just jeered him off.
I’m ashamed to say I got carried away with the hype after his impressive run of reserve team performances and was calling for him to get first team opportunities. Now I’m not sure if he will ever make it.

Yeah I watched the game last night and he was UTTER SHYTE...like a cart horse - no speed, doesn't have a clue how to close a player down or tackle....no idea how or where to position himself...maybe he was having a (one off) nightmare last night...but he was the worst player on the pitch and THAT'S Saying something....

Sadly he's like so many of our "New Wonder Kids".

Over-hyped
Great in training
Can do a thousand keepy ups whilst playing on his Game Boy
Can waltz his way past 3rd Division defenders in the Carling Cup
Can't waltz his way past anyone else
Got a massive ego and overly high opinion of himself
Got a massive contract (thanks to Turnip)
Got a flash motor
Got a great chance of ending up at Colchester or Northampton

He is one player who most fans seemed not to get carried away with.

Despite his height and strength most fans saw him play in reserve games and felt his forward runs and technical skills were canceled out by lack of speed, lack of sharpness and a reported unprofessional attitude.
Cannot see him making it with Arsenal, but others from his generation such as Frimpong and Coquelin look better prospects from what I have seen of them.

Fantastic goal scoring record in the reserves this season, although I do appreciate that doesn't equate to him becoming a decent first team player.

I have also heard that his attitude stinks.

what i've seen he's average....plus he moves in a fucking weird way, every step looks painful?..he uses a lot of tape/strapping? (multi rolls it looks like) on his ankles & shins....maybe its cutting off the blood to his feet

don't worry Frimpong, Lanbsury, Miyachi and Thomas will be seen as our 4 new signings

and with TV and Vela coming back - Wenger will say the squad is stronger enough :banghead: :banghead:

AW will ship him out soon, he's English. Although, if one of JET's ancestor's pets took a shit in France once, AW will make him captain due to his French connections.
