Not sure it's about whether or not you like him. Just seems pretty clear that Usmanov is a crook - big time - rape, murder, extortion etc. Stan might not have endeared himself.....but it's hardly the same thing.tel wrote:Wether you like the guy or not he makes good sense. Stan has hardly endeared himself to anyone so far has he?
But should we as Arsenal fans be bothered by where the money came from? Most Chelsea fans have obviously welcomed Abramovitch with open arms, yet where did that money come from...... Britain has welcomed Abramovitch with open arms!

I don't suppose there's many of us who would disagree with any of the words attributed to Usmanov but that doesn't mean he believes them or would act on them if in control.
Personally, I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.
YES, IT DOES MATTER WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM.
The 'Arsenal Way' was always seen as the right, proper and decent way (e.g. the tributes to Rocky, DB10's departure etc) and there was something special about AFC. I fear that this is changing and may never return. That we've got Stan, the lesser of two evils, doesn't comfort me. I also think that the way previous directors have taken millions out of the club is a disgrace and a stake through the heart of 'the Arsenal way'.
I think that the best we can hope for is for a dyed-in-the-wool Gooner to find oil in his back garden and rescue us (can't be me, I've not got a garden).

Any advisor to Usmanov would have advised him to say what the papers are reporting. Get the supporters onside, which may lead to more 'private' sales of shares to him. It's cheap talk that may or may not be the way he genuinely feels, we'll probably never know.
The facts speak for themselves over the past few years and Wenger's and the boards failure to build a capable squad have left us on the brink of disaster. More and more players are coming out saying that we aren't really titlle contenders and we need signings......if we start the season with the players not thinking we are good enough, we will NOT finish top 4.
It doesn't matter where the money comes from, because under this manager, we will NOT sign world class players!

I'm sorry but what complete bullshit, the Arsenal way is not special, it was a few directors who were given or acquired shares, sat on them, didn't put a penny into the club and then sold out to foreign investment, the Arsenal way is to fleece fans and sit on the profits which causes most to despair, get off the dull high horse about where the money comes from, at the moment it comes from us and makes others rich while branching out into property development, it would be quite refreshing for someone to give something back.SpanishJoe wrote:I don't suppose there's many of us who would disagree with any of the words attributed to Usmanov but that doesn't mean he believes them or would act on them if in control.

Couldnt agree more - tbh I am sick to the teeth of reading bullshit about The Arsenal Way or how we do things that sets us a class apart from the rest cos it no longer is the truth and belongs in a bygone era

I dont know how many times craig murray has to be discredited before people take it on board - the man is a disgraced former goverment employee (and given the level of corruption in uk politics it must say something that he was sacked

I suppose we should all be happy that we have nice clean stan as our owner though shouldnt we ? It shouldnt matter that his wal mart company is supplied by cheap sweat shops should it cos it is the way of the world to exploit the poor isnt it so that makes it ok then doesnt it ?

I dont know how many times craig murray has to be discredited before people take it on board - the man is a disgraced former goverment employee (and given the level of corruption in uk politics it must say something that he was sacked) and how his opinion is given any credence is beyong me
How mikey can stand on the pulpit and preech about how usmanov is a crook and state it as a fact is baffling to me - unless you witnessed any of the crimes concerned how can you stand over a discredited individuals opinions and say for certainty that there are facts ?
We are all agreed that politics is rife with corruption in every country but especially in russia where there are are sooo many corrupt people working from their own agenda I wouldnt know whether to believe that this story comes from usmanov's opponents in an atempt to smear him or if it is indeed 100% accurate - the thing is however that as a result of this I would be very hesitant to believe either side.
I suppose we should all be happy that we have nice clean stan as our owner though shouldnt we ? It shouldnt matter that his wal mart company is supplied by cheap sweat shops should it cos it is the way of the world to exploit the poor isnt it so that makes it ok then doesnt it ?
OHHHHHH FUCKK I didn't know he owned Wal Mart - They really are the tesco-reject version of everything that IS Bad about large retail companies.....read an investigative piece on them a few years back when they were buying up Asda - our shirt sponsors in 2014 btw! - and they really are ruthless - fuckin' over farmers, suppliers, manufacturer's etc BIG TIME! - agreeing deals with them for their produce then 2 weeks before harvest/delivery they change the deal - so the crops either are sold at a loss or rot! etc - the kind of thing that tesco's do very well.

Just to add to what Augie says, is Kroenke so clean?
What do any of us really know about Uzbek politics?
Has anyone on this Forum ever been to Uzbekistan?
In my life I have only knowingly met one Uzbek, and that was in London!
As regards some subjects, some people on the Forum do have an "in". i.e. GoonerSid lives in the area Bloody Sunday took place in, so for him what is in the media about that subject can be supplemented by personal experience.
But for most subjects, it is what we all read on the net and see on TV, and there is no doubt more to most stories than what we are told by controlled media.

All we have is one mans word for that as media coverage of his past life so to speak has been silenced. Depends on wether people want Usmanovs money to improve us or wether we stay rooted in moral high grounds ville.MK Gould wrote:Not sure it's about whether or not you like him.
