Doesn't need to, the deal has already been done since last fucking July.

well this isnt the ronaldo situation, so the idea of a deal being already done is pure speculation, people only say that because of ronaldo.

The way I see it is Cesc isn't going to do barca dirty work for them, they wanted to be publicly announce it, get the fans to reject him, for arsenal to sell him for 30M so we can buy hendersons cousin.

But whatever helps people sleep at night.

It is exactly like the Ronaldo situation, in fact Fergie denied that a deal had been done with Madrid, and in quite uncompromising fashion. It proved however to be bullshit.

I'll stick my neck out and say that I would love it if cesc stays with us next season and I would rather he stayed than the 3 month wonder that is sami nasri 8)

I don't mind if it is like the Ronaldo situation. If we get 80 million (30 is laughable, 50 about right IMO) then we will be laughing.

well gooneraid, its still speculating, unless arsene thinks and works like fergie, and we know that aint the case, and consider that Madrid paid utd what Ronaldo was worth.

I do care very little about Nasri, although i'd rather he stay.

If cesc does stay then I feel better, but to what end? I'll never build my hopes up of any transfers we need until they're announced at arsenal.com. Thats just half of it, once players in we rely on le boss to motivate them and apply them.

I dont think its going to end well with arsene, but all I can do is wait and see.

“What barca are trying to do is get Cesc to force a transfer so they can get him for peanuts. They use the press to do this and hope the fans turn on him.â€

The trouble is that there is pride at stake and you know what the latins are like at needing to save face. Arsenal nicked Cesc from the Barca academy from under their noses and have taken at least two (or maybe it's three now?) others players in the same way since..... I can just imagine how they feel at the thought of paying £50m to get back something they always feel/felt they "owned"!

I've actually felt a little sorry for Cesc in the past but am fast coming around to the view that he wasn't exactly kidnapped/abducted by Arsenal -and must have benefited hugely in terms of first team playing time and wages earned - certainly far more than he would have done if he'd stayed with Barca all the way through - so he can't really complain now if leaving them proves to be the stumbling block that prevents the deal happening to take him back.....

He must understand the commercial reality that Arsenal will be looking at getting a market value for him and not acting out of sentimentality!

He should do, he signed over the power to us (to a certain extent) to hold out for an acceptable offer when he signed his long-term contract, with the financial benefits that came with it. If he wanted to keep that control for himself he should have only committed to a regular length contract, on less money.

And to be fair, I think he generally does understand that which is maybe partly why he hasn't gone all out to force a transfer through as yet.

Sid you keep saying this, but until you actually prove it then its pure speculation.

That is what annoys me, Barcelona talk about him like he is rightfuly theirs...he signed for us when he was 14 or 15, he's been coached, nurtured and developed by us...he was a first team regular by the age of 17. I doubt he would be a regular in their side now even at 24 due to Iniesta and Xavi playing in his position...all Barcelona did was get him when he was very young due to the fact he lived and played his football in the city.
