Who would you like in Jan

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Of course, many of us were in favour of Ribery before Bayern stole in.

If our club had been run on the Ebbsfleet principle - then we would have had the deal done :!: :)

Unfortunately, we would also have had to buy Matty Taylor from Portsmouth

Have to say, I agree on this. In the second half of last season, I virtually assumed we'd sign Ribery - I just wondered who else we'd get. Wenger overpaid for Wiltord, so why not overpay for Ribery?

I did lose a little bit of respect for Ribery when he went to Bayern though. He spent the whole of his last season at Marseilles saying he might stay if Marseilles got into the Champs' League and would only leave for a side in the Champs' League, and then signed for Bayern who hadn't qualified.

All academic now though.

There's rumours going around that we're interested in Agbonlahor, who I would personally kinda like to see Arsene work his magic on, but I don't think we should splash out too much for him.

Anyone else?

I agree, and I also like Ashley Young (though others take a dim view of both). As for money, fuck it, if AW wants someone, he should no longer worry about the cash.

I like Hag's suggestion of Vagner Love, but I think he'd be Euro cup-tied.

I still say someone's got to come in and start to use the genius that is Riquelme in club football. Galasso's right in a lot he says but, having seen Riquelme's contribution to Aregtina's win over Bolivia the other day, I'd love to see us take him on loan from Villarreal.

Agbonlahor would be great. Would be nice to get an English player in just to shut the media up a bit and he's one of very few that would fit into this current Arsenal squad.

Wenger keep saying if a "super super player" as he calls it becomes availble he'd be intrested and I reckon the, in my opinion, best player in the world will leave AC Milan soon. He's also been talking highly about Wenger and Arsenal in the press one or two times over the last few months. So who knows!...You know who I'm talking about don't you? :D

Lukas Podolski. I couldn't help noticing him for Germany in the World Cup last year and he got the best young player award in it as well, if I remember.

Bayern wouyld be happy to unload him for the right price. When he was with FC Koln, he was the Prince, but he's more like the pauper these days. Still, he works hard but is low on confidence right now.

From what I know of Podolski I'd be happy enough to give him a try. He's young, fast & a thunderous shot if memory serves me right so bring him on. All this talk about ribery, the villa lads & podolski is all well and good but ye are all forgetting something......WE NEED A KEEPER FIRST

YES YES YES

I put a thread up about the keeping situation not so long ago and it didn't manage to knock tit-related threads from the top of the charts.

Buffon - Milan next season. Casillas - Real Madrid fixture. Cech - Barca bound.

If we can't get one of the above, get Jaskalainen from Bolton. Top quality in the right team.

ALMUNIA IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

We won't buy anyone of any significance in January as they will be cup tied and we won't gain much out of them for the rest of the season.

Agreed goalkeeper, winger and striker!

It is almost shameful that Almunia is out first choice, our second a very nearly senile German and out third is someone none of us had heard of before the summer. Before the peopel start the "Alminia has not done a lot wrong arguement2 I ill graciously point out the Spuds goal, Ronaldo the other week and the Champs League final. TRhe guy fucks up big time in big games! He will never be woth 10 to 15 points a season in the same way as Cech say is to Chavski. That my friends is fact! Again I ask, just how close to the Spanish national team is Blondie? I am pretty sure he has summer holiday already and is not planning on being involved at the Euro's!

As for the winger.....yes let us keep drooling over the modern day Stanley Matthews that is Eboue! If Theo is not to be trusted yet, and to my mind he cannot do worse than the cluts in the 27 shirt, we must buy. Again though anyone of any class was snapped up in the summer! Malouda, Ribery and Babel were all linked and we got.......Eboue can do a job there! All that is left is Quaamera or whatever in Portugal and although I would love him instead of Eboue (I would love Cilla Black instead of Eboue) he was never my first choice!

As for the striker I am still praying Purple Prince Eduardo will come good....please god let him come good but I think we can see the people who were waging money on him being the Premier top scorer were somewhat naive.

God hate me but I would still have Crouch in the squad as an option! Anyone who thinks he is not more of a complete player than Bentdner is wrapped up in blind faith!

I am also of the opinion that we have dead wood we should shed! Jens, Hoyte. Buffoonderos and Song are never gonna really influence the starting eleven or sixteen squad for differnt reasons so lets get rid!

There must be all of 15 quids worth there and as we all know....god do our board like to save a few bob where they can!
