WILL CESC GO DOWN AS AN ARSENAL LEGEND???

Legend??? Not for me. Didn't do enough to be a legend and disappeared like many of his team mates at the business end of each season.
I don't however begrudge him his move and don't blame him for wanting to get off the Titanic before it finally goes under.

As soon as he came good he was obviously thinking about Barca.

Never won anything for us.

Hardly the most striking captain I've ever seen.

Scored some good goals.

I dunno. I can't say that in 10 years time I'll be still thinking about him.

What, when they do a DNA test and realise after all that it contains no Barcelona?

 :banghead:

I guess we'd take him back and give him an improved contract.

I have to say YES.
For throwing Pizza at Furgison, for punching Sherringham for giving his all (apart from last season) for my club
OK he didnt win anything but if you have to win something to be a legend then most clubs would not have any legends.
It's not like he left for the cash, he's going home so I wish him well. And I dont want a captain who don't want to be there.

I'd say yes he should go down as an arsenal legend. He was the fulcrum in a team that reached the champions league final, 2 league cup finals, 1 champions league semi final, 1 fa cup semi final. finished in the top 4 in all of his 8 seasons with the club and scored a penalty with a broken leg. Not to mention that he won 58 spanish caps, won a world cup and european championship whilst an arsenal player.

It is wenger's fault we didn't win the league in last 3 season by not purchasing the players to support Cesc.

Arsenal legend most definately.

Definitely a legend. Cesc's ability to read a game and then pull the strings was second to none. There were times, as at the San Siro, when his forward midfield play completely ran the game. When he threaded through passes which no-one else saw, angles as precise as a snooker maestro, he was good as anyone and at the same level as a Bergkamp. He was the heart of the best Arsenal football over the last eight years, a little watchmaker, precision and beauty combined.
Wenger is a disgrace for losing Flamini, a great partner for Cesc, and failing to land Alonso who would have been awesome with him. Wenger dithered when decisions had to be made, and money spent. He failed to do justice to Cesc's talent by building the team around him, and ultimately disillusioning Cesc. No wonder he has been in denial about it for so long.

Some of the comments here only go to show the term legend is applied all too easily these days!

Legend?? Cesc?? No way mate!

To be a legend at a Club like Arsenal you have to win trophies and Cesc was never part of a team that could do that. We'll look back on Cesc's time in London and remember it mainly for tippy-tappy, passy-passy football that didn't win a thing.

Having said that, Cesc is a brilliant, brilliant midfielder and seemed like a decent bloke - his main problem at Arsenal was that he was let down by a fatally flawed policy adopted by his chump of a manager.

So by your reckoning one of our greatest players ever Brady who i would only put DB10 and Henry above him is not a legend because he won the same as Cesc.Get real

David Hillier won more titles than Cesc and Brady but he was fucking shit

Thats my point too - I can accept (but not agree) if some people say that he wasnt a good enough player or wasnt with the club long enough to be classed as a legend but when they trot out the lack of trophies won as a reason then that just baffles me. Do people expect cesc to win trophies on his own ? :?

Scored some good goals, set up a hell of a lot, didn't grasp what being a captain was about, showed no leadership, went misssing like his team mates when it mattered, had no historic defining moment in an Arsenal shirt.

Great player, big loss, won't be getting a 'legend DVD' made I don't think.

Nope! The team around him never did enough and because of that he will never be a legend.
Great player yes, Legend NO!
