He had a poor season last year, one which was bad for Bremen. Bremen have started better this season, and he's still a regular for Germany. I guess that's the thing that's difficult to use as a reference for his club form, because you have someone like Podolski who is much more effective in the International team than in club football. Its Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:You're practically a kraut, what's your opinion of him?arseofacrow wrote:I hope that this is not some twisted revenge by Bremen for Silvestre.
They weren't too happy at all about that one.

I think most people have seen enough of Mertesacker to form an opinion of what he is. He can do a job for us - but will he adjust to the English game, will he be able to get used to our complex defensive mechanisms

eerrrmm I have been away. cough cough.Babatunde wrote:Piresistible. Hi. Being one of Arsene's biggest apologists, I would be curious to get your thoughts on our 8-2 drubbing?
Yes, it was embarrasing and my thoughts were deep and sharp - but i am back and have not given up hope with the new signings.
it's unfair to comment on that performance with those players that played for us.

I'm very knowledgeable about football you know, and have been paid several times because of it...Its Up 4 Grabs Now wrote:arseofacrow wrote:He had a poor season last year, one which was bad for Bremen. virtually a done deal, best CB signing we could of hoped for - 6ft 6in, only 26 and 70 odd caps for the national team
for me better than Samba and Jagielka - shame we didn't sign fellow germans Gotze and Podolski

Why the fuck couldn't we sign him months ago?
i think this is what the fans want, we don't expect to compete with City or Chelsea with transfee fees or wages
but proven class players who don't have to cost a fortune - why we are not trying to buy Podolski, Huntelaar is beyond me
