THE "I WAS THERE" THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

+1

One of the best games I saw at Highbury.

Not me but my now 19 year old son, who has no interest in sport of any sort. When he was 9 and then 10 years old I brought him to Highbury twice. His only two Arsenal games ever and Francis Jeffes scored in both of them. Bolton '01 and Charlton '03.

Always proud to say I went to every one of the 49 League games in the unbeaten run.

But my all time favourite has to be Old Trafford in May 2002. 'We won the League in Manchester' ; The slow motion moment when Wiltord pounced on the loose ball was the point where my whole life flashed before my eyes, and everything that had gone before was simply a prelude to this moment in time.

Right at the beginning of our comeback. First we beat Spurs at white hart lane 2v1 Rocastle !! I was there and then the final.
Ian Rush scores and then Charlie scores 2 and Liverpool lose for the first time after Rush scored.

One of the best atmospheres that I experienced at Highbury, was the Arsenal v Man Utd game,February 2005.
I was front row, near the corner,in The North Bank.
It was one of the few times that I heard the whole lot of us singing as we went through the turnstiles.
It all kicked off in the tunnel before the game started, and Graham Poll let Rooney away with all sorts.(He admitted in his autobiography that he should have sent him off).
We lost 2-4,but we were robbed!!!
