Tragic news and I'm stunned by it.

Makes me sad to think about what must have been going on in his head.

Unbelievable!

No age to die. Saddened at what he may have been going through, and even more sad thinking of the children, parents, and wife & friends that will suffer as a result of this

:(

RIP Gary Speed

Will remember him as a great player, particularly his Leeds playing days.

He also appeared to be a real gentleman too.

Thought for his family and friends.

Very, very sad news.

What could have been so wrong to cause him to take his life god only knows. He had it all and he had turned things around as manager of his country.

Sad and very odd.

A genuine role model.

RIP

Sad news for his kids/family, seemed like a nice bloke.

However until the full story emerges for him taking his own life, it's a selfish thing to do.

I think its a sad thing that people still say this. Its opinions like this that make mental illness the stigma that it currently is.

Depression is an illness that makes people change and think differently.

Its a tragedy for the family, but I'm sure abusing their father and husband will make them feel better will it.

I'm not abusing him, I said the act is selfish. We don't know the reasons surely that would affect personal opinions.

Absolutely shocking news. Just can't believe it.

He was doing so well as Wales manager, and watching him on Football Focus last night, he seemed upbeat and in good spirits.

What could have gone so wrong?

RIP Gary. Very very sad.

Just head about this. Absolutely tragic, no age to die and as mentioned he must have had a lot of demons. Goes to show how serious an illness depression is when you see that a great professional like Gary Speed can be driven to suicide. Speed was an absolute class player, I remember when he was at Newcastle he always seemed to put a shift in, could grab a goal and had that knack of always looking as if he had loads of space and time on the ball, even in a congested midfield and he was doing a cracking job as manager for Wales, but much more importantly he always came across as a genuinely nice bloke, and a good family man. I feel so gutted for his wife and kids, just cant believe that this has happened to be honest.

RIP Gary Speed, the world has lost another good bloke

RIP Gary Speed.

From where do you get the information that he was depressed/had mental health issues?
