Abou Diaby

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

denilson was brazil's captain on almost every single youth category (under15s, 16s, 18s, 20s) - and i'm sorry, but we brazilians know more about football than the french 8)

would you say denilson is a naturally gifted player as well and deserves staying at the arsenal?

btw, i agree, diaby is a very talented footballer. and stupid. and made of glass. i'd sell the fucker right away.

michael owen is a very talented footballer as well. wouldn't want him anywhere near our stadium though!

Fair point on Denilson. Not sure I agree with your Michael Owen point. Looking at him today, then of course you wouldn't want him but the guy who set the PL alight with Murderers FC wasn't a bad player was he? Certainly better than any striker Arsenal have produced in the past decade, and a guy whose international striking record wasn't exactly bad either.

It is about opinions of course. Personally when I see Denilson get the ball I immediately think - here comes a simple ball and I also think he has a complete lack of physical presence that is not suited to the English game. When I see Diaby, I think he's got the physical attributes and the game changing pace and skill to be a matchwinner. I'm not going to deny the fact that he has not displayed it on anywhere near enough occasions....but personally I would back his ability to produce a game changing moment more than Denilson.

SteveO, I really only come on here now to see if your epiphany moment regarding Diaby has happened. Not yet.

But it will. :barscarf:

fair enough about owen, and i agree with your points on diaby - and actually think that he is so stupid on the pitch because, well, how many matches in a row has he actually managed in his career? you can't be consistent if you get injured twice a week. you can't learn positioning and football inteligence in front of the telly.

point is, steveo, he's an expensive asset in a club that doesn't have unlimited money - simply the fact that we could be paying those wages to someone who can actually contribute to the club (which you'll agree diaby doesn't and never really have) tells you everything.

i don't believe he'll become super healthy next week, and therefore i'd sell him.

In this instance a 5 year deal on c. £80k per week would be a good investment
For Donkey Diaby, in what way would a £4m+ contract for 15 games a season be good for Arsenal Football Club?
Sell him for 5m, move on and get a player who can actually do a decent job for us.
WUM. 8)

Oh I expect that's what'll happen with Chief Chump Gazidis at the helm. In fact we'll get offered £5m and Ivan will persuade them down to £2m such is his commercial genius :D

I wouldn't sell Abou for all the money on god's earth. We'd only reinvest it some new real estate plot in North London, an African feeder club and some more "super quality" from the lower reaches of Ligue Deux.
