Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua say Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has agreed to join them.
The 32-year-old's advisors have been in talks with the club, who are also expected to recruit former France midfielder Jean Tigana as manager.
If it's true he'll earn upwards of £150k a week out there, then we were never in the running anyway. And we'll never know if Wenger would have brought Anelka back either.

That said, if Podolski is that good, why did he leave Bayern Munich to join Cologne when he's in his mid-20s?

Good point, but it just didn't work out for him; he probably moved to Bayern (from Cologne) in the first place too early. His World Cup and Euro performances speak for themselves.g88ner wrote:Like itArsenal Till I Die wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... -move.html

Think he is cologne born and bred which is why he is worth so much to the club in revenue but I may be wrong on that. A few years ago I thought he was gonna be a star but he seemed to drift off the radar somewhat

He's didn't quite fit in to their system at the time, couldn't quite achieve the same level or fulfill the promise he had shown in his first spell with Cologne. Whatever the reasons, he went back to Cologne.g88ner wrote:Like itArsenal Till I Die wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... -move.html

I'm not sure how good people think he is. He is not at van Persie level, that's for sure. But he is technically excellent, quick and can finish.
And works hard for the team, I'd imagine?arseofacrow wrote:He's didn't quite fit in to their system at the time, couldn't quite achieve the same level or fulfill the promise he had shown in his first spell with Cologne. (I assume he'd best fit in on the left of our front 3, wouldn't he?)

We've had players that have become legends who have flopped elsewhere, sometimes your face fits or it don't.g88ner wrote:Like itArsenal Till I Die wrote:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... -move.html

Ain't no expert but in the major tournaments he has looked class, on the left of van Persie he could be dynamite.

Podolski is due for some smashing club success; he's shown his quality internationally, surely has plenty to offer at a club. Especially when the expectations are lower (we wouldn't be expecting him to turn us around, simply contribute like he can). Wenger seems like the kind of coach that could get good results out of him - I suspect Podo' responds well to patient, belief-inspiring managers.
Henry would be mixed feelings, but quality in front of net can never be unlearned. He wouldn't have the dynamism of years past, and I think we'd all feel a little bit awkward with him back but not being a major figure, but he would offer composure and reliability in front of net. Plus the leadership factor. However I would hope he wouldn't detract from RVP's well-deserved attention.
Goetze? With BVB out of the CL, just maybe... wishful thinking perhaps, but still.
