12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?

sampdoria, either leg in the cwc...nerve racking

13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why?

Bergkamp. he was the best player and biggest name i had heard us sign at the time, soon we became used to such calibre players, but he was the first, and the best, so unexpected too, boring arsenal signing 2 world stars bergkamp and platt, david dein at his finest in getting them in.

to a certain extent yes, but i also fear they will get mourinho.

18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?

Yes, not that people will mind now, but we would have signed terry from them had he not taken over after they scraped CL football the season previous. terry, although a scum bag would have been a fine signing. abramovich skewed the game completely and bought the league.

19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?

Not to the invincible days, as so much damage has been done, but yes we can become genuine contenders again, if we get someone in who will actually use the full resources he has available to him, and will not deliberately manage with one arm tied behind his back, and so long as AW has no say in his replacement and isnt still involved in a position of influence whatsoever.

20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?

CL final vs barca...the history it would have made, and the things that could have followed.

We as fans do have a right to voice our opinions and give pats or knives on/in the back when things are good/bad.

It got me thinking about the type of fan we have on this forum because often on away trips there is very little anto Wenger or Arsenal discussions. I was even surprised to hear Arsenal fans singing "There's only one Arsene Wenger" at Fulham.
WOULD DISAGREE WITH THAT. THERE'S LOTS OF DISCUSSION, BUT IT'S NOT A VERY WISE THING TO DO TO VOCALLY DISAGREE WITH WENGER UNLESS YOU HAVE STRENGTH IN LARGE NUMBERS... :banghead:

1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why?

MY FATHER SUPPORTS ARSENAL. SO I DO.

2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury?

MANCS IN 2000, THIERRY'S WONDER GOAL.

3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end)

DID NOT HAVE A SEASON TICKET. SAT WHEREVER I WAS GIVEN A TICKET.

4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal?

STAMFORD BRIDGE. 1999. KANU. NEED I SAY MORE?

5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD?

2008, JULIO'S DOUBLE IN THE CARLING CUP. IT MUST BE SAID THAT THIS WAS IN CORPORATE SEATING. I HAVE SINCE BEEN IN THE AWAY END, ALTHOUGH I MANAGED TO AVOID BUYING 40 JAEGER BOMBS.

6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why?

GOODISON. PROPER OLD SCHOOL ATMOSPHERIC GROUND AND EVERTON HAVE GOOD SUPPORT. NO AGGRO THERE EITHER.

7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why?

I HATE OLD TRAFFORD AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB. SOULLESS, CORPORATE DUMP WITH PLASTIC TOURIST FANS, AND WE ALWAYS BLOODY LOSE.

8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly?

YES. HAVE HAD HANDBAGS AT OLD TRAFFORD, THE LANE AND THE BRIDGE. (TO BE FAIR AT OT AND SB, IT MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY ME BEING A GOBBY DICKHEAD, AT THE LANE WE JUST GOT STARTED ON OUT OF THE BLUE).

I ALSO RECEIVED A THOROUGH SHOEING IN BISHOPS PARK AFTER FULHAM A FEW YEARS BACK (WE WON 1-0, MANNONE HAD A BLINDER) FOR RESPONDING TO THE TAUNT OF 'ARSENAL ARE SHIT' FROM A BLOKE I KNEW'S BROTHER WITH 'YOU'RE A *word censored* AND YOU KNOW IT, FUCKING DO ONE'. LIKE I SAID, I'M A GOBBY DICKHEAD.

9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving?

NO, WHY WOULD I, I CAN GET THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH A COACH TRIP ACROSS EUROPE WITH A LOAD OF OAP'S.

10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including HIghbury)

NOT BEEN TO ANY THAT HAVE SINCE BEEN PHASED OUT.

11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing?

1, AND IT WAS BLOODY MISERABLE.

12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?

CHELSEA THIS YEAR, BUT IT WOULD BE THE LIVERPOOL 04 GAME HAD I BEEN IN ATTENDANCE.

13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why?

GREATEST PLAYER - DENNIS. NO EXPLANATION NEEDED.
GREATEST PLAYER FOR ARSENAL -THIERRY. MADE EVERY OTHER TEAM LOOK LIKE SPURS.

14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?

TITI.

15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair?

...

16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?

WE COULD WIN IT SPENDING 15 MILLION, WE COULD FAIL WITH 200. IN REALITY I THINK 40 TO 50, ALTHOUGH HOWEVER MUCH WE SPEND WE WILL NEVER WIN IT AGAIN WITH WENGER IN CHARGE.

17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to?

YES. THEY ARE LIVING BEYOND THEIR MEANS. AND THEY ARE ALSO ABSOLUTE *word censored*.

18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?

SKY SPORTS. BUT ROMAN MUST TAKE SOME BLAME.

19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?

YES, HALCYON DAYS OF BEING 1ST OR SECOND MOST YEARS, WITH CUP SUCCESSES, WHICH IS LARGELY DUE TO WENGER'S FORESIGHT. HOWEVER HE HAS TAKEN US AS FAR AS HE CAN, AND HAS BECOME STAGNANT AND REFUSES TO CHANGE.

I WOULD LIKE ANY OF GUARDIOLA, VAN GAAL, KLOPP, MOURINHO, ANCELOTTI OR HIDDINK.

20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?

PARIS 06, AND NOT BY DINT OF EBOUE'S DIVE EITHER. WE DESERVE TO BE THE FIRST TEAM IN LONDON TO WIN IT, AND I DON'T LIKE SMALL CLUBS LIKE VILLA GIVING IT LARGE ABOUT IT.

14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?
For me, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires are heroes as well, but not as much as DB10.

Can't say.

16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?

Depends on who takes over.

18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?
He started it, but I don't think you can put the blame on one person.

The Invincibles will never come back. I hope Guardiola or Löw becomes our new manager.

Paris 2006. I will always think we should've won that game. Never been so disappointed. It probably hurt me more than losing the World Cup final in 2010.

Threads that bring out replies from fans from the 50s and 60s are magnificent! In fact I would make it a rule that anybody who wants to contribute on the Forum must first answer the 20 questions on this thread....call it an initiation ceremony!!

Well done Sammy you old devil :barscarf:

1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why?
For as long as I can remember, family from Islington and my dad had been going reguarly for years.

2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury?

Derby County October 1987 - I was 4, dont remember much about it at all. Turned out I was too young and disinterested and by the sounds of it a bit of a sh*t so despite begging didnt return with my dad again until Ray Kennedys Testimonial in 1991.

3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end)
Sat in all four and none more frequently than any other, was just a case of get tickets where I could. Although if they were free I did used to like sitting inthe old T1 block in the West Lower next to the away fans in the clock.

4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal?
Old Trafford

5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD?
Never had the credits to get to one, hoping that will change in the next couple of years.

6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why?
OT - for obvious reasons.

7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why?
Wigan, towns a shithole, grounds in the middle of nowhere, beers shit and they dont let you take more than two pints away from the bar.

8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly?
No

9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving?
Used it a few times, its not to bad value for money wise but if you are going to be having a boozy one with friends then i wouldnt recommend.

10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including Highbury)
Old Wembley, hate the new one

11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing?
One

12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)?
The 5-3 win over Middlesborough in 2004, 3-1 down at half time and on the verge of the missing out on the longest unbeaten run in (ended up equaling Forests record that game I believe??)

13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why? Between Henry & Bergkamp, cant pick between the two.

14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal?
Loved David Rocastle then it went on to be Ian Wright. Was gutted when they left the club.

15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair?
First real Arsenal memory is Anfield 89, although I knew about the club from my dad and owned shirts etc I didn’t fall in love with them until then so unable to really comment.

16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title?
Not a lot, but I do believe that the wages paid at the club to average players that haven’t produced needs addressing. I believe we are a left back, two strikers and one winger short when everybody is fit.

17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to?
No, I think once they secure CL football again for next year they will be challenging for a while.

18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs?
No

19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there?
We will never see another invincibles again and think we should feel privileged that we were around to support and follow such a great team. As for returning to the top table, football is about money these days and I don’t think we have enough investment in the team to be able to challenge.

20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason?
Henrik Larrson coming on for Barcelona in Paris.

1. When did you start supporting Arsenal and why? Kind of 1971. I was 4, living in Australia and loved the cannon in all the papers after the double. But really got into them in 1974-75 when the Oirish lads started coming through. My old man was thrilled that Chippy Stapo and O'Leary signed for The Arsenal and he drilled the Gooners into me. My old man was a Gooner from his time working in London.

2. When and aginst whom was your first game at Highbury? 1991 season. Against Liverpool. Was working in London and could finally afford to go.

3. Which of the four stands at Highbury did you frequent regularly and why did you choose to stay there (for example i was a North Banker and because i loved to actually look at the big clock in the clock end). Would go wherever I could get tickets. CE, West, East, NB. But mostly the NB. It was just legendary for me. Later I took a bit of a dislike to the CE (about 1999-ish) because so many of them seemed to think they were superfans.

4. Which venue was your first away ground following Arsenal? Liverpool. No hassle from the Scousers as after May 1989 they seemed to respect Gooners alot.

5. When did you first go to White Hart Lane for a NLD? 1991. I still feel dirty. :-P

6. Of the North West grounds which one was/is your favourite and why? Anfield for it's granduer.

7. Of the North West grounds which one was/ is your least favourite and why? Old Shatford as it's full of Essex crunts!

8. Have you ever been hurt at an away ground and how badly? Got hit with a coin at WHL in 95 but it was a glancer. Got involved in a bit of a scuffle with the lovely supporters of Galatasaray in Copenhagen in 2000. Luckily wasn't hurt.

9. Have you ever travelled with the travel club and if so do you think its both value for money and time saving? No.

10. Which of the old grounds that no longer exist do you miss (not including HIghbury). None.

11. How many cup finals have you attended with Arsenal playing? 5.

12. Which one game stands out for you as the best for entertainment( not including cup finals or title winning matches)? Too many to narrow it down.

13. Who for you is the greatest player to wear the shirt and why? Bergkamp. Pure genius. Vision, touch, control, top technique, hard as nails. He had everything. The best player I've ever seen anywhere anytime.

14. If you saw your first game in the 1960s/1970s/1980s/1990s/2000s who was your hero for Arsenal? in the 70's it was Chippy. 80's was Rocky and Merse and TA6. 90's Wrighty and Bergkamp. 2000's Bergkamp.

15. Are the dark days of the mid 70s and early 80s being eclipsed by the current last five years for despair? Yes. Because in the 70's/80's we knew no better apart from the 71 double. But now we've tasted more doubles and an unbeaten season and it's harder to accept the current decline especially given the money issues.

16. How much realistically do you think Arsenal need to spend to build a team capable of winning the title? No idea. But I know what type of players we need to sign and in what positions we need to sign them.

17. Do you really think the departure of Harry Redknapp will change the fortunes of Tottenham to what we have come accustomed to? Yes. Redkrapp is a fucktard but a brilliant man manager he gets the best out of average players. They will fade again without him.

18. Do you blame Roman Abramovich for the decline of football and the financial restraints it has placed upon other clubs? Partly yes. But everyone in the game is now money mental. I blame UEFA and FIFA and the FA as well. All cuntbags.

19. Do you think once Wenger leaves Arsenal the club can return to the halycon days of the invincibles and who do you feel could take us there? No. The Invincibles was a one off. We can however become competitive again. I'd pick Hiddink, Moron-io or Guardiola or Ancelotti. But we need to change the Board too.

20. What one moment in Arsenal's history would you change and for what reason? There's two. Bergkamp missing the penno against the Manure Filth in 99. We would have won another Double and they would have won fuck all that year. And TH14 bottling the CL final in 06. Bergkamp deserved to finish his career in that game winning that medal. Still haunts me. :(

Good questions Sammy. 8)
