Best atmospheres you've been part of?

One from the past-European Super Cup v AC Milan (the Merse comeback as I remember) and one from recent memory-Villa away this year (had my three children and wife with me, the kids have it etched in their Arsenal memory bank now.....Benayoun Yossi Benayoun....Brilliant.

Have worked and lived out the UK for 17 years now but get to see about 5 to 6 games a year. The Super Cup was with the wife before kids but the last few years it has been great nurturing what will be a life long passion in my kids.

First 8 minutes against Manc Utd in the champs lge at the Emirates, second to that would have to be us against Barca last year. Considering the fact that I hate the bowl, those two matches are top despite such fond memories of Highbury Cshleys non return when we all had whistles was another good'un.

back In 1988 v Everton at Highbury in the semi final of the Littlewoods Cup.

We had won the away leg 1-0, through a Groves goal and Everton were a top, top team at the time (honest)

At home we blew them away, Rocky was immense that night despite missing a one on one at 2-1 and I seem to recall that we missed a penalty too but it didn't matter as we won 3-1( and 4-1 overall) to secure a Wembley return.

Crowd of 52,000 I think, which in those days was big, The North Bank was a swaying, heaving, mass of excitement and I always rate night matches better for some reason.


Was also away at Villa Park back in 1989 for the replayed game v Liverpool after 1-1 and 0-0 draws, when we equalized we went mental and seeing as I was sitting a couple of rows behind the Liverpool dugout it semed rude not to celebrate on top of it That was the match where Dogleash had a sarnie thrown at him and he threw it back into the crowd with anger (obviously not a cheese and pickle fan)

FA Cup semi final vs. United at Villa Park in '99 sticks in my mind as a good one. I've rarely seen an Arsenal section go as mental as they did when Dennis scored that deflected equaliser

Spurs away in the league cup semi final replay 1987 I think (won 2-1 in extra time after losing 0-1 in the first leg, and 0-1 down at half time in the 2nd leg, and 0-1 down in replay !)

Spurs away when Brady scored in the 5-0. 1978...? And again at WHL when "we beat Spurs with 6 reserves and Alan [Sunderland] scored again". Maybe also in the League Cup one year when Charlie Nicholas scored.

Spurs at home for the 5-2. Awesome - made even better by me getting in without paying !

Citeh away when Ade scored.....great atmosphere before it turned nasty.

Milan in the San Siro when we beat them 2-0.

Utd at home in the CL - for the first 5 mins.....

PSG away in the mid 90's. The atmosphere in the Parc des Princes was fantastic. That one always springs to mind when talking about atmosphere.

Cup final against Galatasary, as much as I hate them, the atmosphere they created was absolutely amazing, with several drummers...when they sang the 'Sim bon bon' song ( i think thats right) - made the hairs on my neck stand up - superbly done.

As a few have already mentioned, goes without saying that Anfield 26 May 1989 can never be bettered for just total and utter footie drama and ecstasy. But I agree that the Everton semi final 2nd leg in '88 was mental in and outside afterwards. The whole of Gillespie Road was a sea of singing fans, brilliant.
Copenhagen in '94 was 90 mins of singing because Parma pummeled us in the 2nd half and I reckon as fans we helped to drag the team through that.
When you think back to the hundreds and hundreds of games you've been to you can always pick out mental goal celebrations that make you think the whole game was like that but generally the better atmospheres have tended to be away from home. Trips to Old Trafford when it was standing behind the goal were always good

One that stands out for me was a league cup semi final 2nd leg when we lost the 1st leg 2-4, I think, at Highbury. Probably mid-1980's.... We took thousands up there midweek for what was supposed to be a "dead rubber". They wanted to take the "Michael" out of us but we just wouldn't stop singing. Think it spoilt the night for them even though they won 2-1 (and 6-3 on aggregate I think).

Yes that was great in the Cup winners cup semi, that was where 1-0 to the Arsenal was "born" as Go West by the Pet Shop Boys was played at halftime with us leading and in good spirits and we started singing it, then converted the words to become the classic Arsenal tune it is today.

Was sung much, prior, during and after the final v Parma too after winning the home leg v PSG by the same score

Home to Chelsea, fa cup quarter final replay 1973, 63,000 inside Highbury, fucking electric atmosphere that night and Everton at Highbury, league cup semi 88 are two that stand out for me. Away, got to be at shite hart lane league cup semi 2nd leg replay 87, untold Arsenal there that night and singing all the way back to 7 sisters, no red sea pedestrians to be seen for miles

87 at the shithole for the replay was another incredible night.

2001 semi at OT was the last time I was inside a ground where 60 odd thousand didn't stop singing all game.
