If you get to the Harverster early enough and get a space,at least its only a few yards across the road to the ground. leaving though, you will be queuing I expect but you'll be right near the exit to the main road once you've got around the round-about. Then its more or less a straight run to the motorway.armchair supporter wrote:Is the traffic a nightmare getting away if you park at the Harvester next to the ground?scfc64 wrote:Hi guys, thought I'd post this if you're driving as this is what we usually do when we set off for our home games. When we arrive in Stoke,we come off at junction 16 on the M6 and go to a carvery called the Caldwell Tavern on Congleton Road, put ST7 1LW in your Sat-Nav. Its a nice place,£3.89 for a nice carvery meal and a vegetarian alternative as I know how finicky you southerners are at eating!
After you are finished, get back on the A500 and drive down to Old Whieldon Road, put ST4 4HW in your Sat-Nav. Park-up there, walk over bridge and along the side of the canal to the ground. 15-20 minutes. A nice walk after your lunch. You'll walk over a bridge when you reach the Brit then head right to the away end. You could park closer but its not free,as where we park is and it takes ages to get away after the match. If you are driving, google what I've put on here and see what you think. In all the years we've done this,we've never had or seen any trouble or bother, its quite a nice day out, especially when the weathers good.

Parked there last year, took at least 45 minutes to move about 100 yards. Won't be doing it againarmchair supporter wrote:Is the traffic a nightmare getting away if you park at the Harvester next to the ground?scfc64 wrote:Hi guys, thought I'd post this if you're driving as this is what we usually do when we set off for our home games. I made that mistake last year, took me more like an hour and fifteen minutes to get out of the car parkDan_85 wrote:Parked there last year, took at least 45 minutes to move about 100 yards. Just got a good deal on train tickets by splitting at ****** Keynes. £30 as opposed to the £68 that trainline.com tried robbing me for initially

Re: Stoke v Arsenal travel, booze, tix etc.
What are peoples plans that are driving up there and want to go for a few drinks before the game?
I know away fans usually drink close to the station which is quite far away from the ground, i might follow the details given by 'scfc64' but does anyone know what time the away end turnstiles open? Im wondering if its worth just heading to the ground and having some drinks in there.
Ive heard the Harvester has alot of away fans in there so am wondering if thats a bad idea, was wanting to head up early and have a few beers before the game as my mate is driving!!

Re: Stoke v Arsenal
I was at that game as well mate and although we had a decent time in a bar near the ground, the old bill had the place on lock down beforehand. Was a rough place to go back then.flash gunner wrote:arseofacrow wrote:Flash...aaa-aaa...he'll run ahead of usflash gunner wrote:

The away end opens about an hour and a half before KO. You can have a few beers in there or if you arrive early enough just have a drive around and you'll find a few nice places on the outskirts. The Harvester does get very busy though. There is a nice place called Harecastle Farm, jnt 16 M6 (ST7 1UR.) Have a look on Google. Enjoy your day.mattyj3nks wrote:What are peoples plans that are driving up there and want to go for a few drinks before the game?

Words of warning!!! I have been to the swamp the last two seasons and while I wear colors to every away game I made sure they were covered up as colors around the Britannia are a massive no-no. I traveled by train and the gooners were bused in from the local uni with a police escort yet as we arrived at the ground we (my mates) were subject to racist abuse, spat on and coins lobbed. So if you are going defo have your wits about you!
