Please explain to me how that happened?

The other couple of holidays I've had that were just incredible were Barca with my old man in 2010, even though we lost, and a couple of cricket and footy tours abroad with mates. Been saving up for about a year or so, and going to hopefully have the cash to London to China overland with my brother in late 2013. Couch surfing, meeting a load of new people, seeing a whole new part of the world and taking a couple of months just to chill and relax. 8)

Family holiday with parents when I was about 12 to the Seychelles ( my dad worked for BA, so get free flights) was absolutely beautiful country with very friendly people too, shame that I probably didn't really appreciate just how lucky I was back then.

Friends holiday to Orlando in 1995 when we did all the Disney parks, Daytona Beach etc and was my first experience of driving abroad. Food in America is just a whole different thing to over here, I love eating !

Taking my own family, two daughters, to Orlando and doing the disney thing, staying in a villa with its own pool - very tiring but worthwhile - came back with a ton of clothes as it was $2 to the £ back then.

Menorca - Son Bou in a villa up on the hill, sea view from the balcony, beach in walking distance and a home made italian ice cream shop as our visit after eating out in the evenings. 8)

But my favourite two hols were my Honeymoon to Cyprus and Egypt in 2002 and then in 2006 my entire family - Dad, Mom, my wife, my kids and my 3 brothers and their wives/GF's rented a big 6 bedroom Villa for two weeks in Portugal. It was massive, a mansion really, and had it's own pool, all rooms on-suite, in a lovely quiet area just outside Mosquera, a small farming community situated amongst the low, rolling hills and vineyards between Olhos D’Agua and Albufeira in the western half of the Algarve.

It was an expensive, (€1500 a week off-peak, when we went, and €5000 a week peak) one-off treat for my father, who had recently suffered a major stroke and wanted the whole big family holiday thing while it was still possible, as his health was worsening. We all had a fantastic time; my kids loved swimming every day in the large pool, the villa was comfortable and air conditioned, the local food was outstanding and the surrounding countryside was beautifully scenic. Oh, and the missus and I had lots of willing babysitters on hand!! Result. :D

We (the men of the family) watched the second leg of our CL semi-final in a cool little Canadian bar on the Montechoro strip and I'll always remember myself and the bro's going back to the Villa at 6am the next morning, all pissed up and just jumping fully clothed into the pool singing Arsenal songs. Nice story mate :)

almost got a lump in my throat but i think that was the thought of you going at it with your wife while others babysat
   :rubchin: What Flash!?...Youuu got a lump in the throat from DB10's knob!???

Seriously though..Great story DB10 - I wish I'd had such a special moment/memory with my old fella before he passed away - he was always on call/away (Military secret stuff etc)...it's funny you know, but I was talking to a young bloke in work the other day...he is in his mid twenties and was telling me about this big bust up he had with his parents...and I told him....sort it and make up - coz believe me one day in the future when (most likely) they die...you'll wish with all your heart and might that you had been kinder and more grateful to them...Coz once they're gone....

Mate's wedding in the Bahamas. Stayed on a private island called Cat Cay. You fly there from Fort Lauderdale on a 6 seater plane. The landing strip is about as long as a football pitch. The place is a multi-millionaire / billionaire's playground. The yachts are a joke. There are no cars so the only mode of transport was golf buggies. Some of the owners have Hummer, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin versions that cost tens of thousands $$. We would go snorkelling with a spear gun for lobsters each day which you then cook on a BBQ on the beach with steaks (surf and turf!). You are literally swimming with sea turtles, barracuda and nurse sharks. The beach bar stays open until the morning, getting mashed on Kalik Gold (Bahamian beer). It has it's own 9 hole golf course, which is named after the Duke Of Windsor (the one who abdicated) as he was exiled to the Bahamas during and after the war.

After the wedding we spent time in Philadelphia, Miami and then up to New York. Trip of a lifetime! 8)
