It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

I don't feel able to comment on the 'Troubles' in Northern Ireland, as I think/believe the only people able to with any authority and authenticity are those who lived/involved/experienced/directly affected by it/them.

(when I was in Uni - there were two young Irish fella's 1 Catholic, 1 CoE in the same year, and they became best friends - and wouldn't entertain talk of or anything to do with what they called 'the madness back home'.)

However, I do believe that the only reason the Royal Family (like all non-elected heads of state) are in their position of 'Power' is because - as history can show. their predecessors took advantage of, imprisoned, murdered and subjugated others to their will, which is why I never have and never will believe that another human is above me or mine, but neither am I above or superior to them.

Yes, they have Money/Power/Position etc - But we all know how they got those things and how it is they maintain their hold on those things.

Also, the way that Established Religions and the Political Powers go hand in hand is abhorrent, Henry 8th created a his own 'religion/church' so that he could get shot of his wife/wives and (officially') fuck someone else, having said that - he broke away from the Church of Rome - who carried out theft, torture and murder all in what they claimed was the name of (their) god.

The Spanish Inquisition - was responsible for the torture and murder of over 9 Million women (witches (*)/priestesses) who were the (Matriarchal) heads of many communities and peoples.

(*) btw: the term 'Witch' was taken and 'twisted' by the (now) established relgions, and made to represent 'Evil' and anything to do with 'Satan' or 'Ungodliness'. The term itself is derived from the old Germanic - "Wit/Whit" - meaning "Wise" - these were known as the Wise One's - Wise Women, the Church of Rome (a Patriarchal Power) didn't like the idea of women being in what they perceived as positions of 'Power'

Hence burning at the stake, drowning, de-capitation, multiple rape, dis-embowelment - all in the name of 'god'

What isn't widely known is that the "Power" of the Royal Family (in Britain) is not only held in place by the usual, money, politics, military and extended lineage - ensuring continuation of the blood lineage - but what some might term employing certain practises of the Old Beliefs and Religions *, as a means of 'Protection' (*the very thing they sought to enslave in their desire for Power) - anyone familiar with the writings of Dion Fortune etc (and other writings relating to The Order of The Golden Dawn etc) will know of the 'Occult War that took place between Britain and Germany in WW2.

Funny old world innit!

I hate this picture. I served in the Marines and I can tell you my hatred for that man was beyond anything I can write here.....I gave my oath to protect that woman and now she is seen doing what she does here...too me, it smacks the faces of all the families who have lost loved ones at the hands of that scummy paramilitary organisation....I hang my head in disgust

I agree Sammy. I saw the look on Philips' face at the handshake. He grinned, but you just know that he wanted to chin him.
I lost best mates from schooldays in Ireland during the conflicts.
For the sake of "****************", our reigning monarch does not acknowledge the loss and suffering, on both sides, but especially HER military.

I disagree with Her Majesty not acknowledging loss and suffering, my bug bear is that she shakes the hand of a terrorist

Tbh mate. Her acknowledgement would have meant something if she took off her 10 inch glove and slapped it around his saggy chops.
She should have said something heartfelt and controversial (truthful), rather than a fucking grin and limp hand.

Could be suggested she's just being gracious while accepting his surrender.
