New Keeper?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I would have gone for Jaaskelainen, made him number 2, gave him the keeper coach role and got rid of Peyton, an opportunity missed.

We need a new goalkeeper, defo. But I don't like Lloris and I doubt Wenger would spend that much money on a 'keeper.

I find this hard to believe.

Yes we need another keeper, probably two, but I too would go for Gordon as backup to Czesny as that money could and should be spent elsewhere imo.
Another striker, DM and maybe cover at full back.

Can't see us signing a new keeper now, Wenger was quite happy to plod on with the worst 2 goalkeepers in the premier league as our nos 1+2 for years, so why now, with a relatively good keeper should he suddenly look to buy.
We have made our signings for the summer, anyone believing otherwise is an idiot.

Ah I don't know what wind's him up but a couple of mates from Derry hate the reference

I'm a Dub living down here with the evenly balanced Cork people that have a chip on both shoulders

There are benefits though as all the single women are looking for a man that is not family

we might not want to sign a keeper, but we have to. Irresponsible as wenger has been for the last few years, he wouldn't let Shea and Martinez as cover for Chez.

i'd like to see craig gordon as some point here, always rated him as a good keeper, and not a great deal if he's a bit injury prone, he'd be second choice anyways.

but i still think we should wait for confirmation of flappy and mannone's exits. i know both want out, but our decision making regarding signings is so appalling (specially goalkeepers), that i wouldn't be surprised to see either getting a new contract with a hefty pay rise

We have made our signings for the summer, anyone believing otherwise is an idiot.

He did attempt to buy Pepe Reina from Liverpool about 2/3 seasons ago - Bob Wilson confirmed the story that he had made a huge bid, so despite his "3 world class goalkeepers" bollox he was well aware that what we had wasn't good enough.

Talking of keepers, it reminds me of when George signed David Seaman.

We already had a very decent keeper in John Lukic (did the twist and all sorts) who had won trophies with us including the league at Anfield, and was a probably 3/4th best in the league at the time.

However, the opportunity came to sign David Seaman which George took as he thought Seaman was the best and would improve the team that extra 5-10 percent. None of this "killing Lukic's career" rubbish - he actually won another title medal with Leeds anyway.
