Andre Santos

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For everyone who says he's crap defensively, have you ever seen him miss a tackle 1 on 1? Unorthodox technique but hes got a gift

Admittedly his positioning has been poor and hes not too good when people run full pelt at him, both are left back traits but he can be trained in the former and getting....less fat will help with the latter.

I agree pretty much with the last comment. I think Santos is ok, he needs to build his shape though. Clearly unfit to contest in the PL in his first season. If he works on getting fit, I'd pick him over Gibbs.

agree with this, but even though he is indeed chubby, he has a fair ammount of pace for a guy that big (and can run all day long), and he's a great tackler. the problem is his positioning imo, which could be coached into him - probably not by wenger, but maybe now that bouldy is taking care of that, who knows

FFS break the bank and buy Baines or Evra in a swap + cash when RVP goes to Utd

Perhaps that's why we hardly ever see him miss a tackle 1 on 1!! :banghead: :banghead:

Having said that, I do like the guy but unless he straightens himself out and learns to do the basics of defending properly - which includes positioning!! :banghead: - then I only see him as yet another liability.

As for the idea that he is included because he can also play left wing, as someone has already said - get a real left back and if you feel we need it, then get a proper left winger in for that position!! It's not fecking rocket science!!  :banghead: :banghead:

Hideous sense of positioning.

As a left midfielder, he is OK, worth a place on the bench; rather see his positive runs than a laid back Arshavin.

We need to buy a left back.

In all honesty, Armand Traore was better as a left back.
I agree with everything here, except the last line.
´

Santos is a left winger.

We should have bought Baines fra Toffees

Traore ? In danish he is a 'skinskubber' a man, who leaves OT after 8-2 with a smile on his face (know he was of to QPR) the day after) ,
Traore was similar to Stepanovs!!!!!

I dont know why the hell wenger bought him planning him to play LB- I hoped we had seen the last defensively incapable fullbacks when we sold Eboue! Cant help but ove the way he charges forward but hes no LB and I reckon we've already got better left wingers (Ryo, Gervinho, Ox or Podolski potentially) which is his strongest position. Can see him getting sold after having only been bought last summer, but I don't think we should ever have signed hm tbh

As I said before this guy is a defensive liability and Brazil have no intention of letting him near their team again.

Only had the ball once and managed to pass it into touch...

Never seen such a stupid footballer. Makes up his mind so early in possession what he's going to do with it and then if the pass gets cut off he tries to play it anyway and loses the ball. *word censored*.

Perhaps everyone's fallen for the ever-so-convincing and not at all predictable "cultural differences" explanation......even though we've had our Brazilian gooners come on here telling us (as if we ever needed to be told) what a load of all horseshit that explanation was.

I'll never cheer for this bloke ever. If he scores a winning goal for us, I'll sit there in fucking silence. Get rid Wenger and restore some bloody pride - make an example of this useless twat

The fat fuck needs to drink a half time Weightwatchers shake. Seriously.

We should make a separate shirt for him with the diet group "adios" as the sponser

Yep, and who decided to bring him on? That *word censored* of a manager.
