Bans. A mod prerogative? (OK Chippy ??? )

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Rosscommon - OBG went through a few days of reacting to piss takes like yours with the computer badly and i mean a few days not a week or weeks or months. I cant remember exactly but i think it was sorted out. My laughter was at his bad OTT reactions. We have all done or written stupid things (sometimes while pissed) on here and while it gets laughed off mainly if it continues action has to be taken. Which was my point about Sid, Baba and Red that i wrote last night

Couple that with the fact that there is an extra watchful eye on "abuse" from the owners and that the postings of those two made that about 3 times as likely to be infringed. If you want to talk about free speech, liberty etc then join Amnesty International. This is a forum for AFC fans and the two of those weren't.
Well said! This whole thing is boring now and I demand a tit thread!

Speaking from a non-OG mod point of view, I think things here are free and easy to a point. I was mod of a movie forum (I won't say the name because the owner is a whining dick who believes he has a demon called Nemesis controlling his anger and dark side - I'm not joking - and he searches the internet daily for people talking about his site and if he sees anything negative he'll launch and tirade of bullshit...safe to say, I left) and at the movie forum it was literally like North Korea. You genuinely couldn't stray off topic like we do here and have a bit of banter and what not. A bit of banter over there would get you banned after 2 fookin' weeks. At the start it was a good place to be but over the year and a half I was a mod there, the twat in charge got power hungry and it really wasn't worth anyones time being their.

I'm not sure what regulations mods have in place but they do have to follow what the owner says because he is the big cheese. Rules are rules, orders are orders etc. I'm also unaware of any system in place regarding giving people a slap on the wrists but at the website I was a mod on, we had a warning/infraction/ban system which worked quite effectively before that was replaced by the ''my forum my rules'' system.

Your old mod-boss sounds like a total dick, mate!

We have a system here where we will PM offenders and give them a gentle reminder of the rules. Then we PM a warning or two or (sometimes) six! Then we might ban them for 7 days. Then it might be a permanent ban depending on the severity of the offense and/or if it's repeated.

A genuinely unwell human being with a satanic complex. He thought religion was out to get him. Not a specific one, just religion on a whole.

That seems more than fair to be honest.

Yeah, we've long thought that about our DB10 but out of sympathy we just let him get on with it.
