The day is done. I've eaten more in one day than I can sometimes manage in a w/e. All my thoughts are of fags and my head feels like marshmallow.

Heh, these patches have given me some mares, can't wait for tonights dreams. If I could paint them on a canvas I would be the new Picasso or sectioned for them.

It's nice not to be coughing all the time like there is a pube stuck in my throat though.

I have some friends that have to smoke whenever they wake up during the night, whatever the time is. The same people have a fag burning as they're eating a meal too.

I think reporting your progress on here every day will help you greatly. My sense of smell increased very quickly after I gave up; I can smell if someone in the car in front is smoking even when the windows are up! One thing to be cautious about is I almost immediately put on over a stone in weight and it's proved very tough to shift.

ive gave up 5-6 times, longest was 6 months and always end up back on the bloody things smoke bout 12 a day and really have to stop, hard part is the mrs smokes as well so we said we will both do it together but been lazy we are waiting till the new year

Mate you will start to cough more and more when you reach a week/two weeks.Its your body coughing up all the shit thats in your lungs. Its normal.
Everything will start to taste better as your taste buds aren't covered in nicotine and de-sensitised any more. therefore you'll eat more.

I dont want to worry you but it gets worse before it gets better. But just remember - get to the end of each day without one and you'll have done it.

Oh btw have you told hashkads/King J that you're giving up "fags"?

I gave up about 12 years ago, got to be honest I wasnt a heavy smoker just a couple a day but a few at the weekends especially with a pint in me hand.

Used to smoke cigars too but on holiday one year I smoked all the cigars I had bough at duty free and then some cigarettes so on my last day of holiday put a fag out and said to the missus, thats me finished smoking........and it was, as I said I wasn't a heavy smoker so didn't need help quitting but I did a bit of coughing up of crap after a couple of weeks which - given that I wasn't a heavy smoker - does tell you all you need to know, i.e. it's fekin bad for you.

I did however have a couple of cuban cigars on holiday last week.........

Are you still off them, if you had any willpower you should be able to do it

On a serious note though i noticed the times my wife tried to give them up tht it was actual smokers who seemed to take offense tht she would actually try to give them up,e.g if we were out having a drink someone would say to her would she like a cig and when she would tell them she was trying to give them up, you could actually see the shock in their faces tht somebody would want to give them up.
