which striker (left back and backup goalie) should we buy?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I believe Michael Owen is attainable and allegedly is not happy at Stoke, owing to Tony Pullis being a complete fucking arsehole.

I disagree, think ManUre were/are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements
their existing strike-force Rooney, Hernandez, Wellbeck and Berbatov was very good
they needed solidity can't see them winning the league unless Fletch makes a full comeback to his best form
and Scholes stays fit most of the season - 2 massive asks

v Newcastle they somehow shoe-horned in RVP, Rooney, Kagawa AND Wellbeck
I'd be delighted if they pick them all v us

I would also happily take Hernandez who I think is a great finisher who will leave

enough about the Manc-scum

I know we haven't ever really 'gone large' signingswise under Wenger or even before
and leProf's big money record is not great - we would all rather an unheralded George Weah than an overhyped flop like Reyes or Arshavin
but I think SilentStan might try and make a statement in the market
Yeah and they tore Newcastle to shreds. I say they 'need' him because that's what the policy of the club is: we can't afford to let such a world class player piss off to another club when we could get him. I'd say that's been justified looking at how many points his goals have got them this season already, regardless of other areas that needed strengthening.

The only fucking market that Kroenke cares about is the Stock Exchange and the only statement he cares about is from his bank. We're going to get top 4 this year because Liverpool are even shitter than last year and Spurs lack quality and depth, plus we're a better team than last year. Explain to me why Kroenke would be compelled to allow tens of millions to be thrown around in Jan?

Have to say that stooping so low as to chase Michael Owen would be as humbling for the club as a video of Wenger getting spitroasted by RvP and Ferguson.

I would go for Cavani, but he would be way too much to ask, really. Llorente is running down his contract at Bilbao, he's fallen off with the manager and is not even training with the first team. He will be available in january for a decent price. Thing is Juventus will probably fight another battle for him and playing in a team that just won't lose might be more atractive to him, even though their league is shit.

The villa deal is very plausible, esp if Giroud is on <5 league goals by january, as we'll be having him as our only striking option for almost 2 months.

Gazidis did say something about the days of us being patient are coming to an end. Though that is probably just the way the board makes fun of us, if we announce new commercial deals and sign noone, things would look really bad

I don't believe a word that comes out of the blokes or Wengers mouth

I don't either, that's why i said that it's probably a board internal joke, something like - 'this week i'm going to tell those muppets we are going to spend big - cue laughter -

On the other hand, it's not the usual time of the year, so maybe Nike or Emirates came up with an offer to increase values?

Alas this thread is really getting the juices flowing, but Im stopping myself from reading it as dissapointment is inevitable when we sign duck choo fui main from some 3rd division Belgium team.

The only glimmer of hope is Wenger does have a proven track record of big january signings. llorente looks most plausible for me.

So Gazidis says Arsenal have money to spend? Funny how that's always the case once the the transfer window is closed.

Just you wait till January when we'll hear the usual tosh about sustainable business models and my personal favourite "we can't afford to spend 50 million quid on one player" mantra being spat out by Wenger and his American puppet. :banghead:

I'd go for Kevin Gameiro but another French league striker may blow a few tops on here.

Llorente would be a good option for us as well.

Negrado maybe?
