Whats wrong with Asian fans u racist mug ,many here in Singapore attend matches saving their hard earned pennies to travel to see the Arsenal. Its a long way to travel and a lot earn less than 200 quid a week . The Singapore Arsenal supporters club is growing despite our lack of success. I'm from Islington but so what. One thing I do object to is the supposition that armchair twats watching in the boozer and buying a shirt every 2 years makes u a gooner it doesn't. People talk about money but for me its a lifestyle choice and i most certainly do see myself as more Arsenal than say a red member who attends 1/2 games a year by choice or an armchair who never goes .northbank123 wrote:The concept of the 'overseas fan' varies really. Imo when most people slate 'overseas fans', they're talking primarily about the Asian fans who just want to buy the merchandise and hence are pandered to by Arsene and the club, which is completely fair enough in my view. I don't think many people mean it to apply to people from Ireland or elsewhere in Europe or the world who care about the club and do what they can in terms of getting to games. At the end of the day even ignoring travelling costs your bank account is as much (if not more) of a factor than love of Arsenal.
With very few exceptions I don't accept that a person living in East Asia who likes to wear the kit and has the lampshade and the mousemat but doesn't really care is as big a fan as somebody who lives, sleeps and breathes AFC. If somebody doesn't have a deep down burning hatred for Spurs or identify with the traditional values of the club then I wouldn't acknowledge them as a true fan.
I realise that that definition might apply to people living in North London, or that a very tiny minority of Asians are genuine Gooners. But it's a fair generalisation in my view.

Maybe read the post again before spitting feathers. I said what I feel most people are referring to by taking swipes at "overseas fans" and why. As I've said many fans from Asia and indeed elsewhere from across the globe may well be genuine Gooners and many people from the UK and even N5 may be muppets who deep down don't give a shit about AFC.Herd wrote:Whats wrong with Asian fans u racist mug ,many here in Singapore attend matches saving their hard earned pennies to travel to see the Arsenal.
