We're planning on leaving London at about 1.30, be at the M1/M62 junction about 5, what's the best thing to do from there? Like mugs we're going straight through rush hour

Just pray there is no accident on the M62! I just drove the route at 5 tonight and it was fine up to J27, last night it took over an hour to get to J26.SWLGooner wrote:We're planning on leaving London at about 1.30, be at the M1/M62 junction about 5, what's the best thing to do from there? Just join the M62 and then come off at J27 and take the A650 into Bradford, the M621 joins the M62 beyond there and it'll be bottlenecked. The A650 bypass will take you freely onto Tong Street which may be a little bit blocked but you'll be through in no time heading in that direction, as you go down Wakefield Road into Bradford you'll see the stadium in the distance, just a matter of following the ring road round to it.

Whatever you don't fucking head south then!!! (like you usually do when you're around the boys!!!)

Re: Bradford Beer & Stuff
The most important game of the season by a mile - enjoy the beer, be in good voice and cheer us on another step towards winning an ACTUAL* trophy
* for anyone who can not remember events dating back to 2005 and earlier, an ACTUAL trophy is a tangible piece of silver that can be touched, lifted, kissed and displayed. This is not to be confused with a VIRTUAL trophy i.e. a figment of the Self Harmer's imagination, missing from the record books when a list of winners are published and something more likely to be won at the Hawthorns than at Wembley

Re: Bradford Beer & Stuff
I hope we win this cup purely because I want Jack, the Ox, Jenks and Gibbs to get a taste of success that Fabregas, Van Persie, Nasri, Song never had (as first team). Those players grew up as bottle jobs and grew to hate the club/Wenger because of that ingrained mentality.
Get this winning mentality into them young and we should reap the rewards in a few years time, that is, if the manager isn't doing his side of the bargain!

Criticisms can be aimed at all those players, but none were what I would call bottle jobs?N1Goon wrote:Fabregas, Van Persie, Nasri, Song never had (as first team). Those players grew up as bottle jobs and grew to hate the club/Wenger because of that ingrained mentality.
How you figure that?
Song and Nasri lazy at times yes, but they were spiky players who got stuck in.
RvP often injured yes, but he too had an "edge" to him.
Cesc's heart looked to be in Barcelona in his last season yes, but never a bottle job, the nutter took and scored a penalty with a broken leg and chucked pizza at Fergie!

Any way back on topic. If you want to see some gorgeous scenery and avoid all the shit around Leeds, take the A1 to J45 just below Wetherby and take the A659 towards Otley, After about 10 miles in Pool take the Bradford road (A658) past the airport, wave to my mother in law and the road brings you in the north side of Bradford where the ground is. Its a long way round but will probably be about the same time as you don't hit traffic and keep moving.
Incidentally if you want some grub before heading into Bradford, the White Hart in Pool does good food.

Honestly thought you were gonna finish that with "just drop into my mother-in-law's place"!Chippy wrote:Any way back on topic. As she's nearly 89 I think that might be a bit of an imposition! She'd be very generous with the drinks though!DB10GOONER wrote:Honestly thought you were gonna finish that with "just drop into my mother-in-law's place"!Chippy wrote:Any way back on topic. The best thing would be to go to a pub with Sky. The M62 and the Leeds/Bradford conurbation is as bad as anything in the SE at that time, I cycle through rush hour, because it's faster than using my car.................... Please try and get to that junction an hour earlier, of course you'll still get to the game if you arrive there at 5 but it won't be much fun.SWLGooner wrote:We're planning on leaving London at about 1.30, be at the M1/M62 junction about 5, what's the best thing to do from there? Chippy's idea is not bad, less stressful but more mileage and another ball breaking queue at the Airport area, but once past that, you are straight through to the ground.
There is no way into Bradford at rush hour from the south without mega queues.
