Your favorite Bergkamp memory or goals ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Sid i know augie didnt say he wanted Wenger dead but i thought the thing he did write was too close to the mark also which is why i deleted it

g88ner my nagging doubt (i know i sound like a schizophrenic now) :D is that he tried to take the ball with him as he turned but instead knocked it to the side of the defender and had no choice but to go the other side of him to get the ball back

really weird celebrations,
do they rub elbows as well? Stephen Hughes is there too... must be an in joke.
I was at Uni - think I tried to write a poem about that goal or something equally gay.
Still one of the most gorgeous things I've ever seen,
forgotten the name of the French midget they had in goal pretty sure he had a very good game on telly, I said we should sign him, and he was terrible ever after.
clockender1 wrote:can anyone remember his headed goals ? - he had three, i remember the Barca one at wembley, and an FA cup one but not the other.
is there one at home v Mallorca...? Think the away game was Sep 11th.

already mentioned here, the long run v Southampton and the one in the same game where he throws Benali on the floor (super anal detail - I think the Dell camera is in a different from normal place, further away then zooms in)

I remember a WC game v South Korea where he destroys 2 defender by the corner flag. Theres a drag back that pulls the ball into the path of an incoming player he must see very late - then he beats him as well.

Cushioned lob over TA's head pretty much cemented him as my favourite player in the world before we signed him.

Goal v Newcastle - they actually went top if they won that game. Decent side.
I was late home, heard my family go mental. Ran in, my dad said "Dennis just scored the best goal I've ever seen in my life" I thought he was exaggerating, he wasn't.

I remember a Holland v Yugoslavia game, what was the name of that brutal Lazio defender who took awesome left footed free kicks? Fell out with Paddy who called him a gypsy? (Remembered: Sinisa Mihaijlovic)
anyway, he nobbles Dennis, ref doesn't notice. A few mins later the balls loose by the corner flag and Dennis runs over him, must be 3 or 4 perfect stamps that he gets away with.

Also breaking Steve Lomas nose all over is face. And elbowing Bowyer before setting up a backpost Titi header in a hat-trick v WestHam...

so many memories. That dutch Bergkamp commentary brings a tear to my eye and I'm English.
Love Dennis so much my sons middle name is Bergkamp.

Number one moment I think I'll go for that Freddy assist.
For the first 20 minutes, v a world class star studded Vecchia Signora team, Henry had possibly his best performance so far in the Arsenal shirt (was that the start of the "best player in the world" chant?)

and then Dennis went and totally overshadowed it tearing up two of the worlds best defensive players like they were drunk children. Ledgendary.

Flash, look at the way he stretches his arms out for balance as the ball's coming to him – one in front, one behind. His upper body's already on the spin so he definitely wasn't attempting to move to his right. And I'm not sure what else he could even have been attempting tbh. If he was just trying to take in Bobby's pass that's nothing like the technique he used 99.99% of the time to do that. Not to get all pseudo-intellectuminal about it but he'd usually have his leg bent & drawing his foot back towards him to cushion the ball on contact, not have his leg stretched straight out like Basil Fawlty. Even if he'd controlled the ball there like that it would have been a yard or 2 away from him. Most unDennislike. :-P

I can imagine he maybe didn't consciously plan it all out in the seconds before it happened, was more one of those autopilot things – think he's even said as much himself. But he meant it all day long you horrific, horrific bastard.

Not my favourite Bergkamp moment by any means but randomly remembered this pass after watching Eboue-Why's youtube link...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDLnbFwBtZc

The way he flicks his foot forward to cut across the ball & put the spin on it to use the pace of Henry pass to just cushion it perfectly into Judas' path. Looks so easy but how fucking deft is it. That was the thing about Bergkamp, he made so many incredibly difficult things look like such a piece of piss that I really think a lot of people outside of Arsenal (& Flash! ) never appreciated just how good he was. I would happily make sweet passionate love to that pass and then cuddle it in the morning. I'd maybe even temporarily crawl out of the foetal position to buy it a sewing machine if it ever left me for the milkman too.

OK thats it,
I think flash needs to completely recant his heresy
or we send in the Spanish Inquisition
(make him watch a permanent looped video of Almunia howlers and Cesc scoring for Barca)
then burn him at the stake

Too little too late.

This is pretty much just like John Terry telling us all "some of my best friends are black!"

This is pretty much just like John Terry telling us all "some of my best friends are black!"

Or Ryan Giggs telling us all "I'm a family orientated man. Literally."
