Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
It appears Wenger has got away with another cheapskate window.
I don't think anyone will disagree that the 8,9,or 10 million quid spent on Nacho would have stayed firmly under the mattress had Gibbs not been seriously injured on Wednesday.
When the board last convened I presume the subject of what the club are looking to achieve would have arisen, along with any potential new signings needed in January to help the cause.
Firstly how much money was available for transfers?
Somewhere between £70 to £100 million is generally seen as the figure.
With a huge influx of tv money this summer, couple with new sponsership deals, you could not fault the logic if AW had decided now was the right time to bring in 1 or 2 marquee signings, a statement of intent if you like.
Fellaini has a buy out clause, reputed to be around £22 mil, if we had triggered it I doubt Everton could have done much about it.
But that is how Wenger rolls, either United, City or Chelsea will be in for him in the summer, while we will make do with one of their cast offs.
Imagine for a moment if Fergie had been in the same position as Wenger, you can bet Fellaini would have been secured, sharing a taxi down here with Baines. And Santos? he would have been shown the door, or even the window after the Liverpool caper, not resting his useless fat arse on our subs bench.
I doubt Ferguson ever leaves transfer cash unspent in his kitty, his ambition is to build the strongest squad possible with the money at his disposal. Who can say that of Wenger?

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
Messi has just signed a contract extension at Barca . Runs until 2018. Does that officially rule out a bid in the Summer for him. ?

But if the selling club do not want to sell then we must respect their wishes...that's how it works isn't ???green gooner wrote:No, every player has his price and we are going on a splurge this summerBradywasking wrote:Messi has just signed a contract extension at Barca . Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
this is not a rumour, neither it has to wait till next transfer window: my local club's (Grêmio) director confirmed he's negotiating andre santos with arsenal. it could be done next week (brazilian transfer window is still open).

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
the local newspaper that published that is our local 'the guardian', probably the most reliable newspaper in these parts of brazil. this could actually happen...Bradywasking wrote:Will gladly contribute towards flightbrazilianGOONER wrote:this is not a rumour, neither it has to wait till next transfer window: my local club's (Grêmio) director confirmed he's negotiating andre santos with arsenal. it could be done next week (brazilian transfer window is still open).

Re: SUMMER TRANSFER THREAD
I find this quite ironic, that as we signed him, you and your mates said he was useless and now he could end up at your local club...brazilianGOONER wrote:the local newspaper that published that is our local 'the guardian', probably the most reliable newspaper in these parts of brazil. this could actually happen...Bradywasking wrote:Will gladly contribute towards flightbrazilianGOONER wrote:this is not a rumour, neither it has to wait till next transfer window: my local club's (Grêmio) director confirmed he's negotiating andre santos with arsenal. it could be done next week (brazilian transfer window is still open).
