Re: POLL: Do you want Arsenal to sign Wayne Rooney?
There are very few players who are big enough *word censored* to prevent me from wanting to sign them.
Ashley Cole. Probably more or less it because while I wouldn't have Nasri and Adebayor back ever it's different because they wouldn't improve us much (if at all).
I would take Rooney, Suarez, Busquets, Bale et al in an instant, fuck me I'd even take Harold Shipman's corpse if he scored goals.

Of course, this is nearer to the truth on any likelihood of us signing him.goonersid wrote:Why in under Jesus Christ would Wayne Rooney want to sign for ArsenalTake a massive wage cut and play alongside some of the biggest chuckers in the fucking premier league for a manager who is fucking well senile.

Motivation change might have something to do with Coleen's 14 year sister dying. Doesn't matter how much money you earn a personal tragedy like kinda puts a perspective on life that you may not have considered, especially for a bloke in his mid twenties who has achieved as much as he has.augie wrote:I voted not sure - on his day he can be a great player but is he on the way down already ? Has his attitude changed this year cos the motivation isnt there or has it changed cos he aint happy at no longer being top dog score rvp signed ? One thing I can say with some level of certainty is that it is very rare that old ferguscum sell's a player that isnt on a downward slope.
He would have the equivalent effect to this team that DB10 had on the '95 team if we signed him. Problem is I can see him doing a Shearer and going back to his home club, Everton.

Never gonna happen but if it did Rooney would probably be 20 stone within 6 months of joining if Wenger stayed as manager.
Slight exaggaration perhaps but I dont think we'd be seeing quite the same fired up animal we see in a Man United shirt if he came and joined our comfortable set up.

One thing that has me concerned, and it is something Augie and Clockender have picked up on, is that Ferguson has called Rooney's fitness into account.
But surely he turns up at training every day and does all the exercises and I cannot see Ferguson allowing him to slouch around in training?
So maybe there are other things going on, weight issues, drinking etc?

Rooney would have to take a large pay cut to join Arsenal. The only reason he would join Arsenal would be to annoy Ferguson.

that was it, he came back in very poor condition according to the independent - and pics of him drinking shots and smoking fags in the pool in LA with cashley and Kanye West didn't help.QuartzGooner wrote:One thing that has me concerned, and it is something Augie and Clockender have picked up on, is that Ferguson has called Rooney's fitness into account.

i'm guessing he's overeating - look at his family, and over drinking.

i see him headed to the MLS - for Colleen more than anything else. she's lovely though....

Palace wouldn't have a lump like him....they're after promotion. Glenn Murray and Kevin Phillips look like Messi and Villa compared to our useless donkeyclockender1 wrote:selhurst park ?SteveO 35 wrote:No way......I mean where would Giroud play ?

Never going to happen, but yes of course I'd love to see him playing for us. I remember the first time I saw him play. It was v Everton and I think was a night game at Highbury. We won the game, but watching Rooney was scary...Scary, but so enjoyable he was that good. Bit like opposition watching us with Henry playing.
I'll be absolutely honest and say that he has never lived up to those first impressions.... But maybe its the type of challenge that Wenger needs.
