Where are you lot off to?
Which hotel did you stay in Alcudia mate?
Stayed at "Sea Club" really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone with young kids.
We usually stay at "Viva Tropic" but it has got really expensive.

Some good stuff on here:

http://www.timeout.com/newyork/things-t ... ies-in-nyc

Whispering Gallery at Grand Central Station is pretty cool, although as article says not as well kept a secret as it used to be. Visiting Ground Zero is a real touristy thing to do but almost de-rigeur.

Five Guys & Shake Shack (various locations) both serve exceptional burgers that knock the usual McD/BK/Wendys crap for six.

Katz's Deli (205 E. Houston St) is well worth a visit - its the place in Where Harry met Sally - the corned beef and pastrami are amazing

For something sweet go to Levain Bakery ( 167 W. 74th St) - warm cookies are sensational

You'll have an absolute blast. Can't wait to go back.

Where in Alcudia were you? The Ivory Playa (loads of Irish there!) has been our regular holiday spot for the last few summers, but we headed off to Greece for a Neilson holiday this year for a change.

What Top Londoner says, plus these.

Trick there is to shop in the evening, but save days for tourist stuff otherwise whole trip turns into a shopping trip which I reckon is a waste of a fascinating city.

Also take a bit of time to read Time Out or Village Voice, because there will be loads of music and Theatre going on at night and it's top quality stuff, Broadway shows plus off Broadway plays, and loads of gigs in so many music genres.

***1.) ELLIS ISLAND/STATUE OF LIBERTY***

It is the building where immigrants were processed up to 1924. They give you an audio tour device like an ipod and it tells you about the
rooms. From the Ferry you see a great view of Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty. Not worth getting off at the statue itself, best to take photos of it from ferry and actually get off only on Ellis Island.

To get there:
You get a ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty from Clinton's
Castle at the South of Manhattan. Subway lines 4,5 to Bowling Green or N,R to Whitehall Street. (This is at lower tip of Manhattan Island in the Wall Street area). Get your ferry by midday, and it can be chilly on the ferry.

***2.) LOWER EAST SIDE TENEMENT MUSEUM***

This is actually a guided tour for 1 hour of a recreated building where immigrants lived 100 years ago. It is very interesting, I highly recommend it.
90 Orchard Street at Broome Street.
Subway M,J,F,Z to Delancey Street-Essex Street
You have to take the tour...they are from Tuesday to Friday betwen 1pm and
4pm Telephone 212-431-0233 to book or book at the museum visitor centre/bookshop itself.
www.tenement.org

3.) GRAY LINE BUS TOUR:

42nd Street and 8th Ave at the Port Authority Terminal. www.graylinenewyork.com
These are two hour guided tours. Well worth doing one, the commentary is very good. There are uptown tours and downtown tours.

4.) HIP HOP TOURS – www.hushtours.com call 212-209-3370
Hip Hop tours on Thursdays or Saturdays..with Grand Master Caz, Kool DJ Red Alert and Kurtis Blow.

5.) The SOPRANOS Tour on a Sunday.
http://www.screentours.com/tour.php/sop ... fAodrDsCNA
Or to purchase by phone,
call Zerve at (212) 209-3370

6.) Whitney Museum of American Art

7.) Jazz bars in Williamsburg (Their equivalent of Hoxton)

8.) Lounge Bars in SoHo and Chelsea - relaxed, mid 20's to mid 50's crowd.

9.) Walking tours, just get a good tour guide and take photos...they have everything from food sampling tours to gangster tours.

10.) The High Line

Elevated park and walkway through Manhattan

Stayed there last year, didn't really like it, too remote and I like an apartment where you are right beside the pool.
Not really bothered about what nationalities are around.
We stayed at the Sea Club this year, would recommend it if you have young kids.

High Line Park in lower Manhattan is great, Prospect Park in Brooklyn is awesome too. Kinda like Central Park but with less crowds. Take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, the Brooklyn end is in the Dumbo neighbourhood, with some of the best pizza places in NYC including Grimaldi's. Grab a slice or two and eat them while chilling in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
