Yes, indeed. With your ticket free public transport is included on matchday for use of busses, metro, tube, local/regional Deutsche Bahn trains (S, RB,RE (= supplement free trains only) - NOT valid on IC, ICE, EC) in and around Dortmund (large parts of the Ruhrarea and northern parts of the Rhineland (e.g. Düsseldorf area) until ca 3.00 am after the match.

Personally flying Stansted to Bremen which is now £125 return (booked early for £49) but Harwich to Hook of Holland stena is a decent punt. 3 hour drive other side, return for around £180 for car + 4 including cabin on overnight ferry going out

I'll be in the away end Gunnar :D :barscarf:

Eurostar: - you can take whatever the fuck you like on those trains - inc beers. :barscarf:

Train from Cologne to Dortmund: If the match ticket gives you free travel, and you are going to travel on the Regional Trains (RE), then you only need to buy a ticket from Cologne to Langenfeld, as you are covered for the rest. You may not be able to get an RE train coming back becaue of the time, but there'll be some ICE trains which are faster, but on which you do not receive the match ticket discount.

Booked Eurostar to Cologne, out first train Tuesday, back 4ish on the Thursday. Booked it the day it was announced and got it at £99 return. Staying with two mates in a hostel in Dortmund both nights for £24 all in. Can't complain.

Anyone know when the ticket sale date is announced?

Sounds like there are quite a few travelling out on the Eurostar - word of warning, especially for anyone travelling in a group, on Eurostar's alcohol restrictions:

Don't bother trying to get a crate on the train

A few cans of lager each in a carrier bag is fine. A bottle of something stronger is also fine, but if you try to get on with 12 cans of Strongbow in a box, they'll be confiscated. Be sensible

I've had a gander on Dortmund's website and it seems like tickets will be on sale from 7th October onwards so I reckon a few days before that.

A short stop in Brussels, and a slightly longer one at a Brauhaus in Cologne should sort me out :)

Travel, accomodation and tickets sorted! Staying in Dusseldorf this time round. Is the match ticket valid on the train from there?

Would love to go, Germany is a smashing place, great sights, atmosphere and friendly locals. Plus it''s cheap to boot.

Shame we can't take a leaf out of their book.

If train travel is included on the ticket this time round, then yes it is - they are both in the same transport zone.

The ticket is not valid for ICE/IC trains (intercity trains).
