Can see Torres being punished by Mourinho for that - think he will find himself frozen out for a while because Chelsea were looking good for the 3 and will probably end up trying to cling to 1.
Even if it was a harsh second yellow it was such a fucking stupid first one and for a striker the number of times Torres needlessly gives the referee a chance to discipline him for some petulant kick, trip or tackle is completely absurd. 3rd PL red card in a Chelsea shirt.

Didn't see the first yellow, but Michael 'Snoozy' Owen was saying it was violent conduct and should have been straight red - was it as bad as that?

Petulant deliberate trip on Vertonghen followed by a scratch to the face (and yes that is the most accurate description)
Also what does it say about Spurs that in the entire 4 minutes of stoppage time with Chelsea having set up shop they didn't get anywhere near creating a half-chance?
Despite their plethora of super-signings under AVB the only bloke who looked like he might make something happen at the end was the one pre-existing midfielder/striker on the pitch, Defoe. And the only bit of decent play in stoppage time from him flicking it between a few blue shirts was ruined by Chadli taking on a stupid shot.
For all this talk that they've invested brilliant their band of average midfielders were getting robbed far too easily and were reduced to swinging in aimless crosses from 30 yards out on the touchline. Overrated or not I'm sure Bale would have managed to cause a bit of panic if not create a chance at any stretch.

Torres looks like scum in this. Something about Chelski that brings out the worst.
What a fucking vagina. If you're gonna do him just stick the head on him or smack him, don't scratch him.
By no means excusing any of Torres' petulant behaviour but it will be completely overlooked how Vertonghen wound him up all game, culminating in his play-acting for the second yellow.
I know it's early doors but I have yet to see anything in Soldado and why he was worth £26million apart from Valencia trying to take Levy for a ride.
Not the best 1st touch, doesn't hold the ball up well and wins no headers, thank god he takes a mean penalty because bar that he has done f**k all so far. A few goals against FC Russian Caucus don't count.
Defoe despite his goals against that top class Norwegian team fighting relegation(Tromso) looked average yet again.
It will be a tough season, anyone of 5 can win the league. Sorry L'pool fans but I just can't see it. Their midfield compared to the rest of the top 5 is distinctly midtable without Coutinho and he is too light.
If all 5 are all within touching distance of each other come January, then there is going to be a mad gold rush for the best of the rest players in Europe and the premier league. If Benteke keeps scoring, I can see one of the top 5 giving Villa £30million+.
If Dippers fall away, then can see Abramowich giving them £70million+ for Suarez because he will be well sort after.
How often do you get a top striker not cup tied in Europe being available in January?
