As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
The majority have been appeased by the £42.5 million signing of ozil, that's the last of our big spending under wenger so anyone wanting falcao, Suarez, Rooney etc are going to be disappointed.
I see someone said (quartz I think) that benteke would be a realistic target, the guy just signed a five year deal so I can't see how that would come off because if we were to bid for him it would need to 25 mil plus and he ain't worth that.
Agree we can't loan jenkinson out as we have no back up for Sagna.
Buy: Remy (if we can that is as he is on loan at the mo)
Sell: Bendtner (would sell diaby but that's like trying to sell a car that's in a thousand parts on your drive )
I suggested Benteke knowing he had just signed a deal, but thinking that Villa could do with the money and the deal was more to secure a decent fee when Benteke likely moves to a bigger club than any hope by Villa that they could hold on to Benteke for a long time.
Myself and Augie were suggesting Remy on here over the summer, my guess is that his legal problems meant we did not go in for him?
Whilst in and of itself signing Benteke would seem sensible, I'd question how effective he'd be in our "system" for what it is. We all know Arsene won't change the "system" to accomodate a player's strengths so whilst Benteke might score fuck loads in one team it really doesn't mean he'll score many with us - and that would be through no fault of his own.
I talked about exactly this subject yesterday with someone who has been a fan for 60 years.
We both agreed that we need another striker to help Giroud share the burden, and after talking both agreed that rather than get a similar player to Giroud to be a "copy" that can slot in to the system without any thought, we would prefer a faster more direct player than Giroud, in order to pose opposition defences a different challenge.
I think that would work, because we play a lot of short ground passes that a pacy striker could latch on to, and if there were rebounds from shots we also usually have Ramsey or Cazorla around to follow up and try a second shot.
Well that is the theory
Villa paid about £7m for him and since then it's fair to say he's impressed hugely, added to which he's still only 22. What with the new deal I don't think they'd listen to anything below £20m and I think you're looking at about £25m to prise him away - fair enough really because a la Fellaini somebody will eventually hit the panic button and snap him up, even if they pay over the odds, so doesn't make sense for Villa to sell below that especially mid-season.
I think he's a good player and I wouldn't be averse to seeing him in an Arsenal shirt but if you're looking at that sort of price region you could probably do a bit better.

Defoe is seriously pissed off at Spurs and whilst he isn't the world class striker we all crave, and nor is he capable of playing the lone striker role, he is far better than anyone else we have on the bench and throw on towards the end of games we chase. Admittedly in the lesser cups his strike rate is still impressive and for my money still one of the most natural finishers around.
Think we could give him more game time than the Scummers and would be a useful addition.
buy lewandowski
sell nic the twat bendtner
loan jenkinson
You'd loan out our only back up right back?
I really don't understand where the criticism of Jenkinson comes from (not that you're necessarily criticising him),
The only criticism i have of Jenkinson is that I think he is a very ordinary player at best. Apart from that I think he's an appropriate backup for a backup for someone in the reserve side.

Agreed!!
Although i do think we should sell Bendtner to Palace and they should play 442 with he and Chamahk up front.
Why do you hate Crystal Palace so much? I wouldn't even wish this on the Sp*ds!
I don't actually, and I like Jedinak but they took Chamahk so my gallows humour says pair him with Bendtner and let's have a laugh I like their strip if that helps.
