As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Why build a stadium for more Arsenal fans to watch the team yet affect the matches that some who don't have season tickets can attend due to giving a lot of them to the away club? Also why give the opposition any kind of lift by allowing them a complete end of support? Look at the difference between the atmospheres at the Chelsea and Spurs games (even before the destiny of the matches was known). I know there is a rule of sorts but it's not sacrosanct. After all, Man Utd don't give over 11,000 tickets to each and every one of their opponents.
United only have to offer 11% (not the usual 15%) due to "special dispensation" from the FA. They then cried because a few years back City would only offer them 11% for an FA Cup game. Seems fair to me, seeing as we would only have received a 10% allocation from a Spurs replay (although this was negotiated on a one-off basis).
If United only have to offer 8,500 tickets for any one cup game how could the FA nail us down and say we have to offer 9,000 if we kicked up a fuss? I very much imagine it would be a fair argument to make that policing a game in N5 is rather more challenging than at Old Trafford.
I do like having lots of away fans at FA Cup games but imo clubs with over 40,000 should be allowed to agree in advance of each season with the FA to have their away allocation reduced to 10% - which would allow any clubs they drew to offer them the same allocation.
^^This, I like lots of away fans, so long as its reciprocated, improves the atmosphere a lot and may encourage more home fans to actually sing There were plenty of tickets for red members v The scum, including loads of exchange ones, dont see a problem, wish more tickets went to away fans for all matches- provided it meant that more away fans for us could get away tickets. They sell out so fast the demand is clearly huge for them.

Another solution would be to say 15% up until 30,000 and then 5% of any capacity over that (for example). Would take away the difficult decision for clubs in the above scenario of whether to prioritise home games or away fans and not result in such drastically reduced home capacities etc.
Either way a change to the rules would undoubtedly get mouthy lower-league chairman like Barry Hearn piping up.
I think it boils down to the fact that Coventry will almost certainly sell those 9,000 seats, whereas we will struggle to fill the remaining 51,000 as it is. It's pure economics, I'd imagine.
I think this is awesome. Finish work for the weekend on friday then have a few beers, watch the game, go through, then relax and watch the other weekends fixtures! Cant remember ever watching us on a friday? anybody remember the last time?

Few seasons back we beat leeds 5-0 i think and also played newcastle on a fri night winning 3-2 but i could be mistaken.
Oh yeah i remember both now u say. Think i remember laurent robert scoring for newcastle. And Henry that night against leeds could be the best single performance from an arsenal player iv'e ever seen!

He'd been tripped by Harte. Blatant too. If he hadn't scored Harte was off. Great technique from THBW14.
