Oddball /slightly bonkers AFC fans
Re: Oddball /slightly bonkers AFC fans
Judging by the rocket marches I've seen Arsenal has taken in more than it's fair share of former trainspotters and care in the community types .
In the 70's I remember a woman who always appeared behind the goal in the North bank with her hubby whose jacket was festtooned with badges ,She got the best view of Sammy Nelsons Jock strap that fateful night !
There's also a home and away man whose unfortunate nickname is the elephant man as he's not very good looking but a great lad and Ive got a lot of time for him.

Anyone remember Snap-Happy Jappy? I saw him once last season (think it was the Cardiff game) - a Japanese (or possibly Chinese) gentlemen who arrived 10 minutes after kick off with a shed load of merchandise then proceeded to photograph everything and everyone in the stadium before disappearing 5 minutes before half time. Came back 5 minutes after the re-start with armfuls of pizza, hotdogs, nachos etc and left 5 minutes before the final whistle. I never saw him again...

I think I might have sat beside that guy in the West Lower at THOF in 1999. You described him to a tee!Arse 'n' Nose wrote:Anyone remember Snap-Happy Jappy? Michael Shirts / Mick the Beret is Michael Farmer, a slightly oddball chap I have known for a good few years now.
Is a builder / labourer by trade and worked on the new stadium, and proudly held unofficial 'tours' of the site to those supporters he knew were keen to get inside the bowl as it was being built.
He has dozens of shirts, and brings a sample with him to every game to change from shirt to shirt during the 90 minutes. Also loves a homemade flag.....
I think you can see Michael on the Ian Poulter / Puma video from a few weeks ago, as they wanted a 'familiar face' to appear in some of the shots :

Who also remembers a guy known as 'Walrus'? A very large bloke indeed, but followed Arsenal everywhere ; sadly passed away a few years back.

What about that guy who was on the SkySports ad a few seasons back? I think it was a clip of him at Old Trafford - or it might have been the Lane - going absolutely mental at a winner - middle aged, dark short curly hair?
I've not seen him at away games before as far as I know.

Saw him around THOF a few times and I think if memory serves he was featured on a documentary about the rivalry between The Arsenal and the scum.worthing_gooner wrote:What about that guy who was on the SkySports ad a few seasons back? Have to say, some of the pathetic losers that represented the scum were comedy gold on that doc!

If it is who I am thinking of (Not Worzel, he is different) then he was topside Northbank mid-to-late 80's?StuartL wrote: Anyone know "Bignose" ?
Used to stand near him.
Met him once at a club late 80's in Charing Cross Road, now demolished to make way for Crossrail.
Was with friends that I used to stand with, we gave him a chant outside in the queue, he seemed a bit bemused by it and that he had been "recognised" but was very vocal on the terraces.
Glad someone else had seen that man with the fuzzy hair, once seen never forgotten!
I know I have mentioned this to a couple of people by PM but one of the blokes I used to stand with mid to late 80's I lost touch with, but his name cropped up on the front page of the Evening Standard years later having been caught stealing government documents from a car!

I feel like the clip of that frizzy-haired bloke going ballistic at Old Trafford was a large part of my childhood.
I also feel that that is a very strange thing to say. But I'm okay with it.
