Giving it to Arteta will destroy all the good work in the Summer because it pretty much rules out buying a replacement and he will have to play more often than not unless he has a major loss of form.

Unlike Vermaelen he hasnt lost form just his legs and he will be a weak link all season.

Might aswel have not signed Sanchez as not much will change other than scoring a few more goals.

Inevitable really. He would view it as a demotion for Arteta not to be given the armband and similarly would have kept Vermaelen skipper had he stayed despite clearly not being first choice.

A poor decision but realistically Mertesacker will be captain in all but name.

who ever gets the captaincy seems to leave within 12 months, Vieira, Henry, Gallas, Cesc, RVP and now Vermaelen

I wouldn't want it if i was Merts :D :D
Not cursed at all Wenger gave the captaincy to those players as a sweetner to stay.By the way Vieira was captain for 3 years

I just hope Arteta will be like TV a non playing captain because he is well past it

  Would 80% give BFG the captaincy as of now

Maybe Arteta was the better bet, perhaps Alexis should be vice captain :?

We have no candidates for the role of captain in the traditional English sense of the word, and in some ways the importance is overstated anyway. Leaders will lead regardless of wearing an armband or not.

Given it doesn't seem to be a pre-requisite to actually play regularly for Arsenal to be the captain of the club, may as well go with longevity and give it to Abou.

Fraid that's not possible - Abou is already Captain of the Medical Team.

Captain Pugwash would be a better captain than all them gutless inept wankers at the club at the moment, there isn't a fucking leader in that whole squad.
