Best pre-match bars at Arsenal

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Che? I think its proper name is El Comandante, no?

Officially yes, but everyone knows it as the Che Guevera pub.

They do indeed - it is much better after a game than before though when it's hard to get served. The Lamb on Holloway Road is a nice boozer and The George alright.

Good service, great decor, decent beer, local and handy to the ground and a beer garden too for those late/early season games. 8)
Good points... :)

Ahh right, one of the reasons the place is rammed is because the owner has brought in a harem of latino beauties wearing tight skimpy tops, to serve the thirsty punters! I used to go there but no point in seeing a nice pair of tits if you cant have a beer in good time too!

A quick word for The Woodbine as well. Good beers, quick walk and not usually totally rammed like the Gunners or the Pins.
So expensive though. Nice bar in the evening in general though, despite high prices.

The Bank for me. Small pub but doesn't get overly crowded with the garden.
Fuck me u lot know some really shit pubs ,

The Coronet is a wetherspoons smells of old people, sick n shit food and has the atmosphere of limbo on a Saturday night !
The Gunners ,full of tourists and numpties on a match day
The Bailey ,overpriced and too crowded ,hated the place since Boris got elected Major and the camera'd the area to fuck .
The George ,overcrowded to the point it was like a fucking sauna b4 the Palace game ,I left after 1 pint, attracts far too much OB presence for my liking !

There are many good ones but I hesitate to name any for fear that it will ruin them !
Yep same for me. I go to a lovely little boozer just off the Holloway Road but set back enough for the ambience to be very pleasurable on match days. Quality food, Guinness is wonderful although not cheap but at least it's served in a glass and not a plastic container.

Yeah, fair point. I go to the Woodbine mostly for weekday matches, now that I think about it.

I'm a pins regular (well I was, i've recently moved from highbury to Brighton), so that is good, and ofcourse if you can't get into the game they show every game there live, including away one's

A hidden gem a bit further from the ground is the Compton on compton ave near highbury corner behind the Union Chapel, it's a little country style pub in Islington, real ale, nice beer garden. I introduced it to some london based geordies a few years back when we played them, now the word has spread and a good chunk of them go in their for newcastle games now, plus they often use it for spurs trips too. usually meet them every year and have a great time.

I liked them all if i'm honest. The pins, fibbers (if you get there really early they do serve you in glass), the woodbine, the gunners.

anyone ever been to the castle bar? or the boston arms? a little further from the ground but i've heard good things from US military guys (gunners fans) who visit london on the regular.

I like the Lamb, went in there once and they were showing a stream of a game, went in there a couple of weeks ago and they said they stopped doing it, shame.
