Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
I reckon that this could turn into a very good signing. He has a point to prove and it looks like a majority of his Utd career was spent out on the wing. Considering that we weren't ever going to fund £200-350 mill a week signings, it is about as good as we could have expected. His idol was Henry, so like Henry, I hope that his career turns for the better once he is placed in the middle rather than the wing.

I think it's more likely that Wenger will play Welbeck out wide and persist with Sanogoals in the centre. Because he knows.1989 wrote:That's because you shunted him out wide. they miss him so give the guy a chance.
BUT he is a good player, that's for sure. He needs to play week in, week out. He won't bring lots of goals but his all-round play is good and for £16 mill you've got a good deal.
Am I sad to see him go? Well, he's a Manchester lad and was at the club since he was 8. So my heart says yes, but he wasn't good enough for United and I don't think he's good enough for Arsenal either.
Good luck though Danny, hope he brings you guys happiness and success
Btw, do you think it's a worrying sign that your club is now willing to sell a talented young England international who came through your youth ranks to a rival club? Certainly Fergie would never have sold him to us.

No. I am glad we've changed how we operate. If we want to dine with the big boys we've got to spend money on World Class players and stop persisting with the likes of Cleverley, Anderson etc.1989 wrote:

Van Gaal isn't stupid - he's come in to the club, looked at the dross and told our owners that we'll never win anything again unless we invest huge amounts of money like our neighbours and Chelsea do every summer.
The harsh truth is, money talks in football now. There's no getting away from it. But at least we're spending money that WE have generated.
I am so excited about the future now - it seems we mean business.
Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Even if he doesn't shunt him out while Giroud is out, he sure as hell will when he returns. I've seen Wenger play the King of Denmark out on the left, so nothing surprises me any more. Lets face it, we're playing 4-5-1 forever so at best he'll be rotated with Giroud....at worst converted back to a wide manDB10GOONER wrote:I think it's more likely that Wenger will play Welbeck out wide and persist with Sanogoals in the centre. Bit under whelmed by this signing, but willing to give the lad a chance ,but the main thing is hopefully this will stop wengers ego project with the postman.
Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Rooney and RVP's best years are behind them, the latter is also a crock. Falcao just came back from an ACL injury. All 29 years and older. Considering all of that it seems daft to sell a player like Welbeck who's only 23 and never got a proper shot in his favorite position.Derek Acorah wrote:No. I am glad we've changed how we operate. This has Sturridge at Liverpool written all over it.

if he can keep sanogoals away from the first team, then its a good signing.

I'd rather hope that this has Henry at Juventus written all over it.1989 wrote: This has Sturridge at Liverpool written all over it.

Alongside the lack of investment in areas where it was desperately needed, its a bit of a meh signing, but that isnt Wellbecks fault, welcome the The Arsenal and good luck, I think you might need it.

Who is 'The Postman'?

you've said that TH14 is your idol, well keep your head down, work hard and if you're half the player he was then the Highbury crowd will love you.
a 5 year deal is good business - thats 23-28 and two years possibly more beyond The Idiots tenure.
like i hoped Giroud and Pod would work out, we should support him 100% this season.
btw if all fit we have the largest ingerland contingent now - chambers, gibbs, wilshire,ox, wally, welbeck that we've had since 2000.
And that is supposed to reassure us ??

Another signing that screams "we are making do" rather than going out and buying real quality. Another signing got where we didn't have to work to make it happen - they had signed falcao and were happy to move him on, and wellshit himself forced the move to us through after that

The useless *word censored* masquerading as a striker for us.Derek Acorah wrote:Who is 'The Postman'?
Re: Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)
Absolutely no excuses for Wenger to play him anywhere but centre forward.
