Rainbow Laces Video

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Racism, homophobia and sexism are not something you are born with, they are traits learned from other people, or picked up because of your social, religious or cultural environment and/or in a lot of cases by ignorance through poor education. The more we do to educate kids on what is and isn't acceptable the more decent people there will be and the less cuntwound Millwall fans there will be.

The video is not trying to convert a lifelong bigotted homophobe - the idea is to educate the younger kids growing up in the game as players or fans that it's not acceptable to be homophobic. These players are heroes to many kids and they do (for good or bad) influence how kids act and often what they believe and think is acceptable. Since diving came into the English game, how many kids do you see on a Saturday that now think it's ok to dive? I've seen kids on my son's under 10's side doing a Rooney and flinging themselves down and rolling around after zero contact. It's disgusting tbh. I've told my boy in no uncertain terms he EVER does that, he doesn't play for the rest of that season. End of.

Oh, BTW, anyone that thinks Giroud is being serious there needs to look at themselves tbh.
Eggactly. Homophobes, racists will probably go to the grave as such, attempting to preach their 'ideals' as they go. This message may help the new generations to ignore such teachings.

"Bigoted and judgmental" toward hooligans and hooliganism?
No. I'm merely saying that criminal behavior has no place in our or any club. Anyone who engages in such is not Arsenal but a coward.
I'm Arsenal and I'm not a Coward ,who the fuck are you to sit in Judgement of anyone ??????? or their lifestyles
Bigotry is something that is based on ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, disability or socioeconomic status. It has nothing to do with some mental midgets who get lashed up and attempt to injure or kill others for a laugh
Cut N Paste logic again , your out of your depth here Tinkerbell you jumped to wrong conclusions start calling me names then run away from any debate , I think your the coward and the mentally challenged person here.

Hooliganism is not a lifestyle, it is criminal behavior exhibited by cowards.

There is no debate. Homophobia is disgusting behavior that needs to be eliminated from our society. Campaigns like these are a step to doing just that.

Theres no debating with you that's for sure , you don't posses the wit or the intelligence .

I'm against Homophobia too but I think this Video is Twee and lacks a message . "The I cant help it if makes" it sound like homosexuality is a disease that is caught , Give me Tom Robinson and Glad to be Gay over this insipid shit every time !

I also think that it isn't the place for Football or footballers to educate people ,its for the parents but I can see why they are doing it .

I'd prefer though if they wore STOP BOMBING GAZA T shirts or USA keep out of UKRAINE SYRIA IRAQ AFGHANISTAN ...............but were does it end bringing world issues into football !

Your comments about Hooliganism mask the fact you are out of your depth sweetie so be a love and do one eh ?

If your issue is that there should be a line drawn between political issues and football, than I agree with that.

However, gay equality is not a political issue, it is a human issue as I've said before.

Please explain how I am "out of my depths" for being against hooliganism. Hooliganism is criminal behavior that has no place in football or modern society. Anyone who assaults another unprovoked deserves to go to prison. I've been to my fair share of away matches, often in some less than friendly locales.

Standing your ground is one thing, waltzing into a pub and glassing an opposition supporter makes you a *word censored* and a criminal.

The thing is, a player shouldn't have to come out in 2014. It shouldn't be an issue at all and he shouldn't need to. Unfortunately though, it needs one player in the top tier to come out and then I think it'll move towards a more positive place. Quite why anyone would care if someone is gay always baffles me.

Do they get separate showers though?

Just a thought.

I have played football with hundreds of different guys and only one that I knew of was gay, didn't bother me showering at the same time as him but when he pinched my ass I did clench up watertight, it's the defence mechanism kicking in

I think that is a serious point there ,thank goodness for clenchism . I really don't care what religion , race , sexuality someone is but when someone starts bleating about it i get anti there cause and them .

Attacking innocent fans of other teams is very much a criminal activity.
And glorifying it in certain films and books is the lowest common denominator.
But especially back in the late 70's and 80's when I started going to games, it helped to know there were fans from Arsenal who would fight back if attacked, because the police did not always want to help or were not always able to help.

Huh? So if someone shouts off about injustice for Black People or Gay people you're anti- them? Or do you mean you don't like people publicising their personal preference? Either way it seems a rather ignorant comment. History shows people 'bleating on' about things is a very important tool in the quest for equality.

 Make up your mind was it one or two!?

The 'Firm V Firm' thing still goes on today - It just happens away from the grounds and so away from the Plod. There will always be those who go for the violence and not the Football - (though they say it is for the violence AND the football  ) It is wrong, because at some stage some poor innocent person/services has to pick up the pieces Paramedics/Nurses/Plod etc etc

I've only ever been abale to get a ticket to one away Derby against the scum and whilst most of us were not wearing colours there were a group who were and were there for the bother - Even so we still got bottles, sharpened coins etc thrown at us and the Plod did nothing...We won (4 - 5) :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: but on the way out me and my brother along with about 50 others came in close contact - boots & fisticuffs....till one Gooner had some liquid thrown at him - it went on his jacket - after a few seconds we realised it was some kind of acid - his jacket started melting/disintergrating - so we all legged it.
Even when he showed it to the plod they just laughed and told us to fuck off home.

Fu*king hell that's over the top - acid?!

If that had hit him, you, or anyone else in the face/exposed skin they'd be disfigured for life.

That's the problem with hooliganism - people go to such extremes.

This threads gone way off base but hey ho !
There's very little that goes on at all nowadays and I'm very happy about that ,but in the days when I went home
and away as a teenager you either had to hide or be ready, since segregation, police escorts, simply didn't exist .
Arsenals away following in the mid to late 70's was pitiful and dangerous often with less than 100 people making to the matches .
In places like Liverpool,Leeds,Manchester,Birmingham,Newcastle,Sunderland, Boro, you would be in trouble from the moment the train pulled into the station.
As we got a small group together that had had enough many normal supporters were very glad we were there as it took the attention away from them.
Our small numbers contained a large dose of Afro Caribbean Greeks and Turks which meant there was no place to run and no place to hide in less cosmopolitan venues ,they knew who u were and would circle like vultures.
Contrary to today's wannabee fugs whose main ambition seems to be how to throw as many plastic chairs around and stand in the road with arms ready for crucifixion you either had to run and hide or stand together.
I have never been interested in violence or bullying and loath the current obsession with the hooly books which are large slices of pork pie laced with a smidgeon of truth .
