Realistic Replacements for Wenger

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Top target would be Guardiola, but I feel he is out of reach, and is more suited to a team already at the top, and just taking them to the next level (ie CL win) - just as he did when taking over Barca and Bayern.

Despite what others say on here, I think Ancelotti is more realistic - the problem with the Real Madrid job is that it is only this season that matters ; despite winning them their 10 European Cup last season, if Real were to finish 2nd in La Liga and lose in the semi finals of the CL, chances are he would be out - and that could be to our benefit. Plus he has a point to prove to Abramovich and Chelsea, where ironically that is exactly what happened to him - sacked the season after he won them the Double.

Klopp ; the hipster choice?

Simeone ; Looks cool as fuck on the touchline, and is also likely to go at it with any big mouth like Mourinho, and is very animated on the touchline which I think the fanbase could buy into after years of AW inactivity and sitting on the bench. My only reservation is that he might just be too spunky and argumentative for our board to handle. Sign him up.
I'm surprised you didn't opt for a Wenger extension until 2026
Why's that then? I don't know you, and you don't know me

Oh we know ikechukwu 8)

There really are an increasing number I would be comfortable with.

Im amazed that ANYONE can realistically consider Bouldy- the day Wenger goes is the day Bould does.

Either Bould is too scared to say its crap- so he should go
Or Boulds defensive tips are total crap so he should go.

1. Pep
2. Ancelotti
3. Simione
4. Klopp (would have been my 1st choice 2 years ago, but an appalling injury record (sound familiar?) and a high pressing game plan that seems to have been sussed out with a lack of plan B has seen him fall from grace a bit)
5. Martinez

Whoever we get next, I just hope they are given time to sort out all the shit that Wenger has left.

Agreed. It will take a minimum of two seasons for the new man to sort out the clusterfcuk he will inherit from Wenger. He will get a 2 year free ride from me, after that I will cane him 8)

I know who I wouldn't want: either Paul Clement or Dragan Stojković; but, knowing the board, I reckon it's one of those two we'll end up with, especially if AW is given a say on his successor.

For me, Pep should be the chosen one, although I quite like Frank de Boer.

I don't think they will be given time by the AKBs if the manager isn't one approved by Wenger himself. They'll be ready and waiting to pounce on every mistake a new manager makes and the division in the fan base will continue.

Tragically, both the AKBs and Wenger are now part of the clubs DNA. This is how things have been engineered by Wenger.

As for the replacement I'd like - a manager like Simeone, Klopp or Low might have given us a chance of having a proper team to get behind because those type of managers are exactly the ones who would come in and give the whole place a much needed shake up

Sadly that is precisely the reason why those type of managers will never be allowed near our club.

Does anyone seriously think Stan Kroenke wants to be shaken up? Does he want a passionate, driven guy demanding that most of the resources (or profit as he sees it) gets reinvested into the football side of things? Almost certainly not. He wants things to remain as they are now. And they probably will.

Simeone.
Simeone.
Simeone.

Yes he needs some English lessons (hopefully he speaks fluent English but nobody knows!!!!)

If you want tactical revolution at arsenal, if you want to go to OT, Stamford Bridge, Etihad, with no fear, with a game plan...with a chance, go with Diego.

The only problem is he is at a team he loves and they are better than us, but we are richer than they. So it will take some effort.

He also said, if he had the finances he would have got Atletico playing more attacking football, but won't compromise the clubs finances, or the need to win.

this appears to be turning into the fairytale thread

back in the real world Wenger is going nowhere and even if he left/died then we are still stuck with Stan Kroenke as the owner who will not want some radical new manager coming in. And even if Stan Kroenke left/died then we are stuck with his son, Josh Kreoenke who will take over.

the nightmare I am afraid has barely started yet :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

2. Klopp - many of the same traits as simeone except his teams play with more speed and freedom than the more considered approach at ath Madrid. Again he is a manager who does not cower down against the rich clubs and doesn't moan about the lack of financial parity in football. I really don't get the view being spouted by le-grove that suggests that klopp has now been found out and that is why Dortmund are struggling - Dortmund are having a poor season because they have lost too many key players and somewhere along the line that is bound to catch up with you. I also find it amusing that after ONE season where Dortmund have had a woeful run of injuries, le-grove says that he is no better than le cock at looking after his players. He is a man that appears ready for a fresh challenge and being german might get ozil back on track and treat podolski with more respect and maybe even entice marco reus to join us 8)
Hi,
spont on. The thing with Klopp is that he full fills his contract, if you Club let him. Hi did that in Mainz as a player and as a coach, also when he was relegated to the secound division. He will do that with BVB if the club let him. The current situation is due to several issues (like alaways)
-Lewandowski left to the ****** (like ***** Götze)
-Lot of injuries from key Players
-World Cup hangover incl. not being able to prepare for the season. When it comes to the *****from the south, yes the don't have this Problem, they just buy more players
-The new Players 'have not arrived yet' like it is very often at BVB in the beginning hard to understand and live Klopps way of Football
-Down trend...once you are going down it is harder to come up

strange that the CL season so far went very well. But I think after the winter season break we will see a much better BVB and Klopp will stay until 2018  :D when his contract officially finish.

As for Arsenal. I think you have to look for somebody who can realy inspire the club, Löw is not that guy you want to look for

Best wishes!
Cheers,
Thomas
