Jack Wilshere

he was shite yesterday,
he hardly played last season so very harsh to accuse him of being shite for "all of it".
If Tets had been available JW would have been on the bench.

English players are ridiculously over-hyped but Wilshere does have something special - indisputably in some drawn out and pretty crappy post injury form.

Always thought this "overrated", "underrated" bollocks was about as reliable as Rosicky's finishing.

Personally, I couldn't give a fishes tit whether the average man on the street rates Wilshere or not, because it's almost always based on hearsay rather than following a player's career closely, so it's usually pretty redundant anyway.

Also, it gets even more ridiculous when everyone you talk to is telling you that "Makelele was underrated", but surely the very fact that everyone was saying it kind of proves otherwise? :o - Apart from at the beginning, Makelele was VERY highly rated amongst anyone with an interest in football, yet still the "underrated" tag wouldn't shift. Bonkers.

Wilshere is fine. He was a very exciting young talent before his injury, and is finding his feet after over a year out of the game at a crucial point in his development, so give the lad a break. Real fans have real patience (heard that somewhere...? :rubchin: )

I do agree he isn't the second coming of Gascoigne but he is playing in a shit team and has been elevated to key player status by virtue of our club selling off the crown jewels at every opportunity.

He has been run into the ground by Wenger and tries to do far too much, plus his temprement is increasingly suspect. If we had a manager with half a brain we would see more end product, of this I'm sure.

Problem is that he is now expected to carry the team due to the lack of quality in it and for a guy just getting back to full fitness that is unrealistic expectation.

If we had the 2/3 world class players (Cesc / Van P etc) he would be able to ease himself back and just concentrate on his own game instead of trying to force things to happen.

Didn't help that Villa targeted him yesterday and he got fouled time and time again - but yes he should have just got up and got on with the game (easier said then done I realise)

At the moment Jack is one of the best we have and clearly loves the club, feels it when we lose ( I also think his applause to the crowd at the end was his way of showing he agreed with the "spend some fucking money" chants )

He may love the club but he will be out the door before you can say Wenger is a :censored: next summer if he stays fit this season

If he was at ManUre, Chelski, or the Spuds even, he'd be playing the odd game here and there, and coming on in games to add something different, but with our dire lack of box to box and defensive midfielder he's being thrown into the deep end big time (for quite a while now).

When Gerrard was his age, he was being played every so often while he was still developing physically.

It could go 2 ways imo. His injuries could have a long term effects if he carries on the way he is, or he'll move to a club that could play to his advantages so he's not needed to cover areas that we're sorely missing players.

still very young, playing in an average side, give him 4 or 5 years, when he will be at Chelsea or Man U and he will shine

once again so much pressure on a young lad, just like when Fabregas came through

But i agree he is overrated, if seen as Arsenal and England's great saviour.

If we had won yesterday I don't believe this thread would be posted. Jack is the best of an average bunch. People forget how young he is and he has had to bounce back from a lot of injuries already. People saying that Jack is average are talking complete nonsense and I think it is important to keep things in perspective.

He's a good player right now but not more. Has the talent to become a very good player but still a very very long way to go. World class? I don't know. I doubt it but I don't call too many players 'world class'.

He's progressing well for us , has had a good number of good games under his belt and is turning out to be a fine player for the club. Who gives a shit about overrated or not, just puts more pressure on the lad. Love his spirit too. Hes gone from playing a part in a midfield of Cesc Nasri etc etc to running the midfield. At 21. Give him a break.

Unbelievable, the kid has just had two years of serious injury problems. Even when he wasn't fit last year he was a class above some of the shit he is surrounded by.

I remember his MOM performance vs barca a few years ago. Back then he had iniesta and xavi in his pocket. Certainly Barca noted his promise.

I agree he has yet to deliver on that promise, but for fucks sake on this weekend don't have a pop at one of the few shining lights at our club. I have watched jack now live in two games, and its clear he isn't 100% fit.

Wilshere was great but Barca ran amok for most of the game and should have been out of sight by the time fatigue set in.

Agree completely. Sad thing is our current situation and idiot manager will dictate he plays too much and, sadly, predict another long term absence becomes inevitable.
