true so true, I admit I've had and got some harsh views on arsenal and wenger ..... But even I admit we were fucking shite in the early 80s,
1980 we finished 4th
1981 we finished 3rd
1982 we finished 4th

the only difference between Arsenal now and the early 80s (and we also won the cup in 79) is that ticket prices are ridiculously high and prestige is attached to "qualifying" for a european competition. In 1980 we even managed to reach a european final! :rubchin:
1983 10th, come on don't skew it! For the rest of the decade our highest placing apart from when we won the league was 4th. In the mid seventies we finished lower mid table 3 seasons in a row.

ok fair enough but I still don't think we currently have any more chance of winning the title than at any time during the 80s.

Dare I say it but is Danny Welbeck the new Diaby? A knee injury which supposedly left him "just short" in his race to be fit for the cup final in May sees him still on the sidelines for this game in early August. Hardly any updates on him, all seems very strange.

Don't think it's fair to compare now to the 80's. Things be dfferent then in all sorts of ways.

If you can afford to go to the odd classy restaurant now, you don't expect doner kebab van quality. If you get served it, you question it. It's only natural.

I don't question it and when the waiter asks if I enjoy the meal, I smile and say yes thanks  ... then I give a bad review on tripadvisor :box:

I don't compare, I just say it as it is.

I actually preferred the days when the most excited the north bank got was the anticipation of will he drop the pole or not at half time

But football has now changed, the club has changed massively but I'm still there, so I do apologise if I sometimes offend but as the ticket I have which has been renewed every year since I took it over from my old man to date (45 years easily) with countless always, euro travel, testimonials, youth, friendlies added in for good measure means I have a lot to praise about and rant about.......

30 years  I've been going to the arsenal longer than the wise one has been in management

Anyway back on topic...... We need to beat these and get this show on the road :barscarf:

0-0 borefest and we win 3-0 on pens after Cech saves the first three in a row.

This is the best squad we have had for years, it will be interesting to see if we can compete with Chelsea. I don't think we are that far away.

They have a better defence than us. They have a better and more balanced midfield than us. They have a number 9 that pisses all over ours. Not to mention that they have a manager that has made le cock his bitch over the years. Regardless of how sunday goes, we are still some way behind the chavs :(

On a lighter note, did anyone see the foul by aurier against costa last saturday night ? There is fouling a guy in a crafty way, and then there is this type of foul where he doesnt give a fcuk how it looks

You could say the same with the Liverpool side of 1989, and the Man Ure team of 1998 both managed by highly successful managers.

John Terry has no more than a few seasons at the top, and our midfield with Coquelin as the defensive shield and the likes of Wilshere, the Ox and Ramsey firing on all cylinders shouldn't be dismissed. All we need is a bit of luck with injuries and our front line to share the goals.

There is no doubt Moaninho totally owns Wenger, but every cycle comes to an end. The thing that really pisses me off with this forum is how depressingly pessimistic most people are. If half you lot where supporting Arsenal in the 80s you'd probably be jumping off Tower Bridge by now.
Sorry, that's just a tad Horsehit, mate. Most of the negative fuckers on here were supporting The Arsenal in the 80's. And a good few in the 70's too. :|
And the 60's !!! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
