8-2, Bradford on Penalties, Blackburn in the FA Cup, Sunderland in the Cup, 3-1 to Villa after signing the postman, Losing to Swansea at home to send us down to 10th in the league a couple of weeks before christmas. Off the top of my head these are results where we have been in far worse positions and Wenger has been under far more more pressure in the past and nothing has happened. Ok if we lost 4 on the bounce then it could be argued that it would be up there but there is no way he will ever be sacked or resign and he'll constantly have his supporters who will churn out the same story of 'look what he has done for the club' 'who else can do his job' '4th place is bigger than any trophy' blah blah blah.

I hardly feel there is any point anymore. We just have to support the team and wait until his contract expires. The thought of losing to Spurs even if it is to put pressure on Wenger is unthinkable. They'd also be extremely proud that they led to his downfall if by some miracle he did leave this season and I do respect Wengers early years so I'd hate that.

Spot on .....much as I despise him, every game against them is vital

think this has got to be the start of our season - been well disappointed so far -scraped it against 10 men at Newcastle, fortunate to win at Palace - we've lacked so much - no players playing to full potential - surely they'll up if for this - they may have overspent again on a forward but he's knocked in a couple already - just not got the faith in Walcott/Giroud.

Do you honestly think that there are fans from any of our rivals, that would be happy to see wenker no longer manager of our club ??  Fans of every club outside of our own know that wenker is holding us back - sure they admire the man for keeping us in the top 4 for all those years, and maybe many would like him to manage their club, but they also know that his stubbornness and refusal to spend money on quality players is stopping us from being all we can be :( If I was a scum/chav/manure fan then I would be over the moon happy everytime le cock signs a new deal

Have to say that I cannot see le cock putting out many "reserve" players tomorrow night - yes ospina, gibbs and debouchy will probably play, but I would expect them to be mixed in with the likes of ramsey and sanchez (he plays him in every other game doesn't he ? ) because wenker will know full well that HE cannot afford to lose this game

I would never want to see us lose to these knuckle dragging scumbags, but I have to say that beating the chavs last Saturday was a higher priority for me this week - beating the scum we can do anytime, but this was a great chance to beat a seriously struggling chav team and we shat ourselves again - winning Wednesday night will be good, but it wont make up for Saturday in my book

For me the debate about wanting to lose to Spurs doesn't come in to it because even if we do does anybody actually believe that the board might sack him or that Wenger might accept that he's no longer the man for the job and resign his dictatorship?

No chance. How many times have we been in this position where bad result will supposedly heap insane amounts of pressure on him? No point in even considering what we would benefit from losing this in the long run as the answer is nothing.

Fielding a strong side and giving them a good kicking in a League Cup match won't make an iota of difference to any reasonable person's analysis of his ability to do the job but I fucking hope that's what happens. Not a hope in hell of winning the PL or CL and the fa cup doesn't start for months so no excuse not to put out as strong a team as possible. Although I'd be amazed if he did.

This match might give an indication as to how much pressure Wenger feels he is under. If he sticks by his principles he will field youngsters/fringe players throughout the team. If he feels that he desperately needs a result to keep the discontent from building he will play a strong side. It will be very interesting to read the lineup.

Under pressure, why would he feel under pressure?? You think anybody is going to have a go at him (besides the fans that is) for getting knocked out of any competition?? The goal now is to finish 2nd in the CL, if we get knocked out in the 1st round of the knockouts, so what. By the end of this month the PL chase will be over, so he will concentrate in staying in touch with 3rd & 4th spot and then come January there will be a laser like focus on getting 4th spot. If we don't have a whole list of injuries, maybe even 3rd. Once again CL delivered to Kroenke, smiles all round, a nice monetary reward and then next season it all starts again. This will go on until Wenger chooses to leave. He is no longer a football manager, he is Kroenke's business manager.
