Baggies away

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I remember we had them at home on Boxing Day 1978 it had bee quite a Christmas because local hero and staunch Gooner John Lydon was performing at the Rainbow up the road for 2 nights starting on Christmas Day with PIL .
Minicabs didnt exist in those days so we literally camped out at the rainbow for the night and ran riot around the Old Building with a nonstop party which was only interupted by the Football the next day .
Whats more we got paid too for bieng onstage "Security" which consisted of me ande a pal sitting on a speaker chatting up the birds in the crowd and inviting them to the afterparty.
The above two and a young brian Robson and Brendan Batson I think ripped us to shreds that day and Pat Jennings made world class save after save otherwise it would have been 10-1 .
As it was Boxing day I dont think there were any West Brom fans there at all so they missed a great win .
Highbury isnt known for its sportmanship but West Brom got a rousing standing Ovation at the end from a large Arsenal crowd who had just witnessed a lesson in pure fottballing class .
Regis seemed genuinely taken aback by the warmth of the applause and acknowledged to crowd back , a nice touch when you consider the abuse players of colour often got at other grounds.
A few days later they went to old Trafford and won 5-3 unheard of in those times !
Lazt time I saw Cunningham play he was a sub for Wimbledon in their Epic cup final win ,he was a great talent !

I remember seeing Cunningham shoot from a corner kick. I thought it was a fluke until I saw that he did it every week when he went to Madrid.

I was distraught, when many years later, I discovered we'd turned him down as a kid.

Looks Like Alexis is out - Injury/strain. It was only a matter of time - clueless is supposed to be the manager/Boss - and should have rested him ages ago. :?

Did we nearly sign Cunningham too?

Perhaps we could compile a yesteryear Virtual XI to match the current version. Cunningham and Kerry Dixon up front with Venables as our virtual manager.....Roy Keane bossing the virtual midfield......any others?

Much as I dislike Pulis he knows what to do. He will set his side up to nullify our strengths and make sure his team comes away with at least a point. He plays and adapts to the team in front of him on the day (isn't that what decent managers do??) For Wenger, it's just another game, the oppositions strengths & weaknesses are of no interest to him. We'll turn up for just another PL game and see how it goes.....

dont forget Tony Cottee went to Everton from West Ham instead of us cos he got a large sign on fee
Peter Sutton ,went to Blackburn from Norwich as above again better money
John Barnes was said to have been a done deal before he showed up at Liverpool !
Remember the Dixon and Roy Keane as per Stevos apparantly Arxenal were put off Dixon when they discovered he was still living with his mum in a council house in Luton cos Kerry spunked all his wages on horses ! He was still there during his Chelsea's days!

With no Theo or Sanchez, can see this one being extremely slow and dull. Hoping for a 2-0 but who fucking knows.

Injuries mounting up...just at the time you need to kick on, same old shit from Mr Wenger

Alexis needs a rest and inevitably now injured, looks like Kos is a doubt as well

what a Fucking stubborn, blinkered wanker that Wenger is........still cannot believe the money he is on, and the glaring mistakes he keeps repeating.....more disappointments on the way till he goes :banghead:

Stanley Bowles was another who could score from a corner kick, seen him do it at Arsenal, we was murdered but think it finished 2-2 in the end
