ENGLAND vs FRANCE Friendly

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I do agree with you fellas, but there seems to be a new 'friendship' wanting to be shown, however shallow some may think it is but it can only be a good thing tbh, showing this unity in the face of terrorism, does send a bit of a msg, won't make any difference as such but it's a good 'fuck you' to the radicals.

I was one of those that strongly applauded the singing of the French national anthem on Tuesday night, but I have to say that the plan to play it at all premier club grounds tomorrow is cringeworthy- Tuesday night was about solidarity and unity and was very relevant because it was the French national team that engerland were playing, but club games are different and don't represent a country the way a national team does and it just comes across like the clubs trying to grab some pr points for themselves

If it's true they'll be playing the French national anthem at all games then I'm surprised and not convinced it's necessary. The England game was the right time to show solidarity; a week on seems a tad indulgent.

That said, if it's done for the right reasons (i.e. trying to show respect and solidarity in the face of an atrocious act of terrorism) then, even if it's misjudged, I'd say let them get on with it without the cynicism. It's not doing any harm.

Yes of course there has to be some display, cannot just ignore it....BUT to think it sends any message is absolutely deluded
Its a decent gesture thats about it really....all the vigils and candles will not make too much impression in the long run I'm afraid
the people that perpetrated such a dreadful outrage in their own country will not bat an eyelid

Out of interest, did any other countries play the British national anthem after the London bombings?
