Gunner Rob wrote:apparently the Leicester City fans are going to boycott the first 5 minutes of the match next month to protest at the late rescheduling.
as we saw at the match v Bayern Munich this can make for quite an effective protest.
I really do think that Arsenal supporters should also join in with this protest.
To be honest most of our supporters boycott the first 5 minutes at matches anyway  so it shouldnt be too hard!
Yeah....always the most effective way to protest....pay for a fucking ticket and spend a load of money inside the ground on beer. That'll show em !

Joking aside it will get media attention for a day or two before......err, nothing fucking happens at all. Remember buying tickets for Newcastle at home a few seasons back as a birthday present for my lad before they switched it to Monday night. Never again - Sky and the Premier League can shove it right up their pipe !

Re: March Fixtures/LEICESTER Game Re-Arranged

Post by Peeman »

Following TV selections, our home Barclays Premier League fixture against Leicester City has now been rearranged.
Arsenal v Leicester City
Sunday 14th February 2016 (originally Saturday 13th February)
Kick-off: 12:00
Live on: SKY SPORTS
The Premier League usually seeks to give at least six weeks’ notice of changes to dates due to TV selections, however this is not always possible. We appreciate that this late fixture change will cause inconvenience to supporters for which we apologise.

That is a company who recognise the problems fans face and have acted quickly, so well done to East Midlands.

Sky we all know don't give a shit and should fuck off somewhere, the knobs at the Premier League have said they will look at what can be done but what I find worse is the complete wall of silence from the 2 clubs over this. They should have responded to this straight away, letting those affected know what they will be doing to help but no, nothing, not even an acknowledgement :banghead:

Sad attitude to take -

The issue is that the tickets were already sold on the basis of it being a different day / kick off time and that tickets purchased are non-refundable, as often are train or plane tickets / hotels etc for the ARSENAL fans as well as Leicester who bought them in good faith too.

Greedy Fuckers who couldn't give a shit about the fans they are all guilty - Sky, Arsenal, Premier League, F.A and Redarmy too by the sounds of it.

Why protest at The Arsenal don't both clubs have to agree to the change? Surely, they should boycott a home game if they don't like it. Also, what is the point of boycotting the first five minutes? They've still bought the ticket, like the pointless Bayern boycott over ticket prices, simply don't buy it, don't go, and don't subscribe to sky/ bt sport if you don't agree with matches moving for tv, because if the clubs and tv subscription channels receive your money, they will continue to dictate what happens with matches.
Well, you have to be there to show your anger or frustration. It's your opinion that the Bayern boycott was pointless but it got media coverage and people talking about it. We need more of this to ramp up the pressure, not less.

People staying away will just be replaced by others...or the stadium will only have 50000 in it rather than the normal 60,083
Did the club lower the price for away fans in grade A games? No.
Will the protest by Leicester fans change the way tv companies move fixtures? No.
Why? Because money talks. The money Leicester will get from tv next season, without European football, will be greater than their matchday revenue, unless they increase ticket prices. From next season a number of clubs in the Premier League will gain more from tv money than its own supporters. Unless the clubs stand up and support its fans, then tv will dictate when matches will be played.
Thank you Mr Sky  :D

Have a look at protests in general and then think about the process of change. Then you'll have the answer. :barscarf:

Heard that Leicester fans will be refunded can't see the Arsenal fans being accommodated likewise

Th problem with boycotting 5 mins of the match is that the club have already got the ticket money for the game so it makes no difference to the club.

I give a fuck about the Leicester fans mate, in case you wondered.

The marketing of the game is all about showing full stadiums and happy fans and I'd make the case that if anything is going to nudge SKY/Premier League, which by implication is where the real power lies, is half empty stands and unhappy fans, if only for a period of time. Build Pressure.

I've found East Midlands to be great for honouring tickets for stuff like this.

The clubs won't rock the boat because (aside from it having no impact on them) they realise that for the likes of small clubs like Leicester to earn treble what Bayern Munich earn in TV money and more than any other team outside the Premier League except Barca and Real Madrid, they are going to be in Sky's pocket.

Pleased you love Leicester fans....

you are having a fucking laugh mate, demand to see premiership games is going through the roof

Admittedly a new type of customer, gradually gentrifying the game and sanitising it, if you remembered in the old days it was mainly working class males attending

The game has changed and will never be the same, i attend some away games but will not go to the Emirates, until Krone goes

I remember the same thing happening to us at Bolton a couple of years ago, think they changed it from the Tuesday to the Wednesday with about 2 weeks notice. It's crap, but we still go because we love football despite all the modern corporate shit, and Arsenal are our team. What sort of "Red army" would we be if we just didn't go :banghead:
