The best thing to do is to get a carry out and drink at Trocadero and then get Line 9 down to the ground. We did that at the Euros and no problems

Not sure what part of Paris you were in, but it's a beautiful city. Also, I've found 90% of the Parisians that I've met to be fine. Once you make an effort at speaking French, most will happily speak English to you if they can.

db my language piece was tongue in cheek. however the shithole part stands.

I've had the dubious pleasure quite a few times, and the city is disgustingly dirty on the whole event the supposedly nice tourists bits let alone the parts around the state de France and certain arrondisements.

lille as an example on the other hand is lovely. Paris is overrated overhyped and people need to get out and visit the true parts of France.

same with those who come to UK and just visit London. Yes London is fine in small doses but if you have to work there everyday it soon gets tiresome especially the native bell ends who live here. be it the oh so better than you types aka nfg(alias Highbury jd) or the other end of the spectrum chavvy underclass who are stuck in a vicious circle of lack of education, motivation, benefits as the world has passed them by.
Um, I'm assuming that last paragraph has a few typos in it, mate. I'm well educated, I've worked every day of my adult life and never claimed benefits.

I found Paris to be similar to a lot of European capital cities; nice areas and slums. I liked it. Dated a French girl and spent alot of weekends getting to see the "real" Paris. Steeped in atmosphere and history, I loved it. And the people were fine, some ignorant, most friendly.
Playing Mantis, let me tell you something. You sir don't like someone questioning your narrow minded opinions especially when they prove you 100% wrong as per the EU referendum thread. If you showed an ounce of brains or constructive conversation then it would have been fun to have a in/out discussion, but you didn't and indeed in this thread you have shown how uncultured you really are. Even if your comments where tongue in cheek, they pervey an undertone that you don't seem to like anything outside the borders of this country,

If your experience of going to Paris was walking around Pigalle, then perhaps yes you are right it is a shithole as well as a perv. But if you actually explored the place took in places like the Louvre, walked down the Champs Elysees, visited Notre Dame or took a boat ride on the Seine then you will have seen a city like London that is architecturally magnificent. Every city has it's rough areas, we have Tottenham in London but that doesn't mean it isn't a great city that millions of people visit every year.

This is rife in certain sections of the forum usually from the same suspects. yep it is, by you!

How anyone can say Paris is a shithole is beyond me. Also having a pop at the French because they don't speak English beggars belief. Do you ever hear the French expecting us to converse with them in London in their language, do you fuck. this was tongue in cheek but since when was french lingua franca?

I've been to Paris loads and used my pigeon 3rd year secondary school version to converse, and you know what they actually respond and respect that you are trying to communicate with them in their language. They even open up in English if you are struggling. of course you do

It's narrow minded attitudes like this that get us a bad rep abroad. The whole we rule the world attitude that surrounds certain classes of British people especially England football fans overseas, until they get a kicking of course by a well organised Russian firm. like brexit too i suppose, and like peoples out of order views on americans or is that different? its oh so fashionable for a certain type of person (often middle class Londoners) to think it looks big and clever to look down on america and americans along with the rest of the anglosphere and claim to be European facing and modern, and love everything european, when there just doing it for effect and because they have some ridiculous view that it makes them seem progressive and au fait.

London is mostly a gimicky, touristy shithole too on the main, (and thats from someone whos lived here for 4 years at uni and worked ever since, yes there are some nice bits) and that's why a lot of overseas tourists don't see what all the fuss is about visiting the uk and rarely are repeat visitors unless its for shopping or unless they've actually done more than just London and Stonehenge . our regional cities are far far nicer and varied, as is our countryside and villages and market towns that actually give a true impression of English life rather than that experienced by the metropolitan bubble that is london and many londoners.

1,800 tickets and three hours notice via text message to buy them is a joke. That doesn't meet the minimum allocation for Champions League matches.

Mate, you should count yourself lucky. Back in 2008 it would have taken 60 pages, the subject matter would have swerved from your question to Wenger to anal sex with dogs to lesbian grooming to the 1971 Double Side to the best brothel to visit in Berlin to the size of Flash's nose to Gus' tiny penis to US Marty blaming everything on the Board to a broad discussion of the merits of anal flossing - and resulted in approximately 45 tit picture posts, 20 rows, an offer of a dogging meet-up in Cleethorpes and at least two bans.

Even if your comments where tongue in cheek, they pervey what?an undertone that you don't seem to like anything outside the borders of this country, no I'm not exactly cultured (apart from appreciating the work of a certain artists, friedrich, shiskin, inshaw, the nash's ), wandering around a gallery or museum is not my idea of fun but a viewpoint on a shitty touristy city is not evidence of that or 'not seeming to like anything outside the borders of this country', a ridiculous jumped to opinion with no thought or basis bar a couple of threads yet typical of you. you want french culture, go to Lille or Carcassonne or Giverny

If your experience of going to Paris was walking around Pigalle no idea what this is, then perhaps yes you are right it is a shithole as well as a perv wtf. But if you actually explored the place took in places like the Louvre, walked down the Champs Elysees, visited Notre Dame or took a boat ride on the Seine then you will have seen a city like London that is architecturally magnificent yep you're so European and sophisticated... you list the main tourist things to do. yes they may be architecturally nice city but so what? the champs elysee for example is a dirty tourist trap. Every city has it's rough areas, we have Tottenham in London but that doesn't mean it isn't a great city that millions of people visit every year.
Rather than embed half you reply in my original post can you please type a coherent reply outside the post that I can actually understand and respond to. Thanks.
