Found the above in the Daily Mail.
I thought Rooney was on 300 or so but apparently not according to this.

Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
The fact this is from the Daily Fail makes it suspect straight away (I too thought Granny Molester was on £300K pre-tax) but let's just say for arguments sake it is correct. ONLY Aguero in that top 5 is actually worth what he's being paid. Also the fact that Sterling might be on as much as £180K per week is insane. He is proper shit.Midz wrote:TOP 10 PREMIER LEAGUE EARNERS

I don't think the Scum model is the Scum model any longer.
Seven Scum players have received massive wage hikes this season. Players and their agents know that there is money swilling around the PL and they want a slice. Leics, Stoke, Palace etc have started paying players big money.
It's a competitive market and if we don't pay our players good money, another team will.
Teams will get caught out with some contracts. Schweinsteiger on 200k+ pw for training with the reserves. The Granny Shagger who gets worse every week is going to get 300k pw for at least another two years.
I don't like saying it because I think wages are becoming almost immoral, but we either offer the money or we lose our best players.

As for Bellerin. He needs to be tied up. The 'he shouldnt get 100k until he proves something' brigade are missing the point. Bellerin is being heavily coveted by Man City and Barcelona. He is wanted by Barcelona, and Pep - what does that tell you about his ability?
Bellerin is the best right back in England, and one of the best rb's in the world. For so long we have criticized the club for putting 'morals' above ambition, yet some people say 'fuk Bellerin off then if he wants 100k a week'. While we Arsenal fans have nothing but the 'moral high ground' for refusing to give into Bellerin's wage demands. Then when Man City beat us 3-0, we can bitch and moan about how much more money they spend than we do. Thats what we used to do, when RVP, Nasri, Clichy ect left us. Drown in self-pity and justify our failures by citing lack of investment (some of these fans sound like Wenger).
So to those who want to 'fuk Bellerin off' and say 'he shouldnt get 100k until he proves something', you are behind the times. Same goes for Ozil and Sanchez and 250k a week.
But if you want to get all high and mighty, and go all Arsene Wenger on steroids, by refusing to pay these type of wages out of some sort of self imposed principle, then dont complain when we sell Bellerin, Ozil and Sanchez inside the next two years, and we linger well below the pace as we did for 2006 up until the year before last.

Fast forward a few years and we are now in same position with bellerin - if fans believe that his crossing and defending isn't at the required level yet, then why would they advocate paying him top dollar ?

Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
It's where Wenger and the Board get it so wrong so often. He won't pay the big bucks to sign the big names and the proven talent. But he will pay huge wages to unproven players based on "potential". Getting paid massive wages and "rewarded" with huge payrises must contribute to demotivating a lot of these young players. It takes an element of their hunger away. Why put in that extra effort when you are a millionaire after a couple of seasons of contributing little and achieving nothing? Alot of these fuckers are not the brightest and wouldn't be self-motivators.augie wrote:Wilson wrote:It doesnt have to be 250, maybe the club could negotiate the down to 200 or 220. Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
100% correct, great post, hit the nail on the head for me.Moral high ground never won fuck all in football,I want us to compete financially and on the pitch,we have the money so pay them.Do you think when people on here shout for Benzema and the like to come, and the "world class striker" we so need,do you think they'll come for 80k a week? They are sadly mistaken,I'd rather Arsenal FC had a quid in the bank and won trophies, with a great side, than Arsenal having millions in the bank and watching shit like we have had.Like someone said in this thread, pay decent players decent wages not average players big wages.Wilson wrote:It doesnt have to be 250, maybe the club could negotiate the down to 200 or 220. I think Raheem Sterling is probably a good case in point, lazy, overhyped, then even worse after his huge money move to City,I guess becoming an instant multi-millionaire will do that to a young man,Guardiola seems to have changed him though, maybe this is where Wenger needs to step-up,and actually nurture our young talent further, and make them justify their 200k a week,(DB10GOONER wrote:It's where Wenger and the Board get it so wrong so often. And what exactly have Spurs won in recent memory? Yeah, FUCKING NOTHING. They do NOT have the model to win trophies.

its not about what they have won, its about paying crap players too much money, meaning theres not enough left (or enough that AW is willing to give) to the big big players we have or potential signings.
Its changing at the scum now as their dishing out payrises to all and sundry, but their 'stars' are not on big wages based on media reports, the figures bandied around are no where near what we are paying some of our crap.
I maintain in this spurs are a lesson in not paying unproven overhyped players to much before they have proven they are worth it. mong face took a couple of v good seasons to get a decent (in football terms) pay rise yet is still on less than wally and lamppost.

This is why young players lose motivation at this club. They are paid ridiculous sums which even clubs like Real, Bayern or Barcelona wouldn't pay for achieving fuck all but bottling big games every season. Then you all wonder why they lack the desire to win things. If they flop then they are almost impossible to shift because they are on ridiculous wages which no other club are willing to pay.
Don't spend a single penny on this club any more so not arsed how the money is spent. Might as well pay them (Ozil/Sanchez), or they'll get it somewhere else. Doesn't Wenger position himself as the top earner at the club? He won't like players usurping his top dog status.
if he wants such a wage having proven nothing he can jog on. debauchy before that thug injured him was doing a fine job. and debauchys are not a rare commodity.

quite right, given 100k to someone who has proven nothing and is no where near the finished article is highly risky. yes give him a pay hike and link it in with performance, but if thats not good enough for him so be it. Right back isnt a position thats that specialized, even AW converted a central midfielder in Lauren to a top right back. Milner is doing it at the victims.DB10GOONER wrote:It's where Wenger and the Board get it so wrong so often. He won't pay the big bucks to sign the big names and the proven talent. Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
Market rates spring to mind, if that is the rate for World Class players then it's a no brainer to me.
I cast my mind back to late 1971 when the great Alan Ball (rip) transferred from Everton for a record British £220,000 move to Arsenal with his wee white booties.
They all talk about dosh, they see wiggy and co draw in obscene amounts of cash, new tv money, CL money, highest seat prices in the land along with so many other deals the club draws in, and yes they are fully entitled to their slice of the action as it is they and not Donald Trump's double who inspire the club.
There is no model in this, it is just plain common sense, perhaps they should take a look around and see what they actually pay complete wastes of space and make economies there in order to keep the cream at the club.
Again I do not feel they are greedy, I feel they have a justifiable argument, and if those tight bastards feck it up, they should be lined up and shot....

Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
How are people genuinely missing this point? We pay over the odds for players that haven't really done much but show potential and when 9/10 they flop they can't be shifted. Instead, let's give them massive wages so they're happy to win next to nothing here just in the ridiculous fear they won't do it somewhere else. Players with any ambition won't give two shits about the wages they're on, they just want to win the big trophies.augie wrote:Wilson wrote:It doesnt have to be 250, maybe the club could negotiate the down to 200 or 220. But all the same, this is where football is going. The best players in the world are earning this type of money, and yes, Ozil and Sanchez are among the top 20 players in the world. Sure its outrageous money. But did you know George Soros made over 1 billion in a week betting against the British pound in 1992.
Yeah alright then, Fuk him off to Man City and watch him develop into the next Cafu in a light blue top.
I dont know about all of you, but I kind of like having a deep sqaud filled with quality, with some of the best players in the world. I like the fact we have a realistic chance of winning the league this year. I like being competitive and whipping Chelsea 3-0. Chelsea, who used to be better than us, and well and truly a level or two beneath us now. Yet we have some fans who are prepared to let Ozil and Sanchez walk, or even sell Bellerin to Man City????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I don't think that I have ever disagreed with anything that you have said on here recently, so this is a first when I say that it is you that is missing the point - the highlighted part was EXACTLY the same argument that was being put forward when both of wallys last two contracts were being negotiated. It was generally accepted that wally had many shortcomings, but there were a lot of fans (gobshites) who argued that the club had to continue to buy into his potential and rather than allow him to fulfill his potential elsewhere, we should bite the bullet and pay him big bucks for what he would deliver in the future - I guess we can all recognize how that turned out![]()

Fast forward a few years and we are now in same position with bellerin - if fans believe that his crossing and defending isn't at the required level yet, then why would they advocate paying him top dollar ?He def looks like he can be a real player for us in the future, but what happens if he, like so many others before him, fail to deliver on that potential ? We would then find ourselves overpaying yet another young player.
Personally I would support the idea of giving the kid a healthy payrise, but for me that shouldn't be to the point where he thinks he is better than he actually is
Says a lot about Ozil and Sanchez if they would rather take the money knowing they are unlikely to compete at the highest level.

Saw the title of this thread and thought:
Yup! Give it to them and get shot of all the shyte/drift wood in the team: BFG/Walnutt/Ramsey/The Ox/Gibbs/Welbeck.
We still come out with a Profit and that's all that wenger and wiggy are concerned with.
REEEEZZULT!

Re: Ozil and Sanchez want £250k a week
If Barca do ever want Bellerin to be their first-choice RB then it won't make a fucking jot of difference that he is on 100k a week here.
I probably wouldn't have an issue with that sort of money if it was a 6-year deal and we were actually willing to hold him to it. Reality is it will be a 4 or 5 year deal which means we will get pressured into giving him whatever he demands in 2 or 3 years, on top of which if the opportunity comes to move to Barca, Bayern etc he will ask to move and we will sell him without any real leverage.
I like Bellerin and think he can really push on under new guidance in a better system, but I think that "one of The best RBs in the world" is a bit carried away.
