Just when I thought I could relax and wait for the cup final, someone went and mentioned the possibility of the Virtual Trophy and I've been walking round looking like I'm pitching a tent all week and knocking myself bandy

Dare to dream fellas........win this one and we go 5th with 3 games to play. This is why we moved grounds and pay £62 per home game......look at the way we're pulling clear of Everton now

:barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Rodders - don't you dare be boxing up those Barry White CDs and shoving them up in the loft just yet

Looking forward to this game; Southampton have often given us a tough game at their place so should be interesting.... especially if Koscielny isn't fit

There's obviously a Wenger shaped silver lining if we lose but IF we can somehow beat Southampton and Stoke away (not confident  ) then that'll put some pressure on Liverpool for their game at West Ham on Sunday.

In reality, I think we'll balls it up but I hope I'm wrong!

The 45 million squid doesn't hurt either !
I've always believed that if we dont qualify for CL they will simply spend even less than we currently do !
You must see that is contradictory, if we get a CL spot there is literally no chance Wenger will go.
Even if we got relegated, (which a lot of posters on here would apparently love to see) he'd still get a new contract to get us back up, stability etc...
Which posters want to see us relegated??
All I know is that top 4 means a definite contract, if we miss out on top 4 there is a minute chance that he may be gone.
disagree top 4 or top 6 no difference, win or lose the cup final, if he wants to stay stan will extend his contract.

Really??? I can't believe fans are still hoping for this. Mark my words if we get Top 4 the press and every AKB on the planet will be hailing this as Wenger's greatest achievement, second only to the invincibles. We are a total embarrassment in Europe under Wenger, I never want to see us in CL again with him at the helm. This is the sad state that he has reduced this great club to...that virtually EVERY single year around this time fans are biting their nails as to whether we are going to get 4th place or not. Most of our fans now believe it is an actual trophy. Wenger cannot go soon enough and take his bar lowering, loser mentality with him.

He does want to stay, he has made that perfectly clear, so why hasn't Stan extended his contract?? Stan doesn't care what the fans think so why hasn't he?? Stan is a businessman, NOT a Sports fan. Constantly missing out on top 4, Thursday nights in Europa, empty seats on Thursday evening and Sunday 12.30 or 2pm KO's will soon put a huge dent in income. Stan will NOT stand for that for any length of time. The ONLY reason Wenger is still there is because our fans are so apathetic & because of CL money. Howling angry fans for a year, empty seats and no CL for a couple of seasons and Stan will act. If we somehow scrape into Top 4 and Wenger stays, the roof is going to fall in on his head next season, he has ridden his luck for over a decade and because he is so inflexible, too many managers now have his number and the only people who play for him are his adopted sons who he overpays. Most decent players who want to win trophies, leave.

Howling fans mean nothing to Stan ,only the the revenue streams X .
Gazidis has made his play and he must think he has the support of others in this .
He can see TOF's luck is running out ,and looking forward there's no succession plan or stream of hot talent waiting to break out and run riot in the PL.
It cannot have gone unnoticed that we also have invested large in monetary terms this season and had a poor return for the investment .
More importantly the fans are leaving gaping holes in the seats and whilst these seats are currently paid for a decline in revenue of 45 million from the champs league coupled with a potential drop in premium revenues leaves Gazidis in a position where he he feels he can wrest the balance of power from the grip of the Lord Wenger however they are probably fighting behind the scenes .
If Wenger gets 4th or if we win the Cup its all over he will get a blank 2 year extention .
Anything else and he will have to live with a reduced power base !
Since there is no succession plan whatsoever and the squad is the poorest Ive seen since Henry Mancini played for us something needs to be done even if as I suspect he will stay on even with clipped wings .

Herd, what I mean by howling fans are angry fans and angry fans will not attend games. "Gaping holes" in seats does not make for good viewing. And if Wenger does get an extension I cannot see him accepting having his wings clipped...threatening to clip his wings might be a way of forcing him out.

I know the protests have been like taking on a tank with an air rifle but I believe without the WENGER OUT being so in the spotlight for the past 2 months he would have signed already. The club cannot be enjoying this, they are in the papers for all the wrong reasons.

And we are not done yet.

Kranky won't be worried about missing the CL money this season as they will sell Sanchez for 50m and get it back in one hit. That money will NOT be re-invested so 'loss of money' isn't even a consideration. If we don't get in the CL for a few seasons then Kranky will act, but we'll lose a lot more players if Wonga is still in charge because he won't hesitate in selling our best players to keep the money coming in, and in turn earning his year end bonus for financial perofrmance.....the only one that really matters to Wonga!

Well it that happens we ain't getting back in the champs league any time soon (assuming we miss out in the first place).

I can't see how we are going to be signing anyone of any note this summer - I mean who would be crazy enough to join at the moment??

We will piss all over them tonight and win by a 3-1 or 3-0 scoreline. For some time now they (Southampton) have appeared to be on the holidays, and I don't see that changing tonight. Our pussy players have made careers out of performing well when there is nothing left to play for in a season, and this will endorse that policy
