As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Play Martinelli down the centre for the rest of the season and let's see how he does.
You know, while I think it's worth a try, I don't know if I see Martinelli being a natural goal scorer. Sure, he can certainly score goals - and some beauties - but I don't see him being a 20+ PL goals per season man, year after year, like Wrighty or Henry or Aubamewingie. I see him a bit more in the creative goal scorer mode, slightly similar to a Bergkamp maybe. And I don't mean as a Number 10. I mean just as a goal scorer. Dennis wouldn't get you 20+ PL goals every season but he'd create alot of goals and score some absolutely amazing goals. That's kind of the way I (currently) see Martinelli tbh.
But at this stage we have nothing to lose trying him down the middle. So why not!
But can I see Martinez-Lite doing something so innovative and left field? Can I fuck.
I said a while back I'd like to have seen Balogun & Martinelli together upfront for a time.
Obviously that's not gonna happen now but I still believe it would've been interesting to watch develop. It might not have worked but you don't know unless you try it out.

Agreed.
It still pisses me off that Wenger pushed Podolski out wide instead of playing him off Giroud in a front two. One thing Giroud was actually really good at was muscling defenders, taking the ball in and laying it off. I still think Podolski feeding off that would have hit 20+ in the PL every year. He was possibly the most clinical finisher I have seen in the last 10 to 15 years.

Yeah! Yet again managers EGO spoils what could have been a very fruitful striking partnership... Podolski was an excellent player - Bur Wenger froze him out and in the end he upped and left, just like Auba...
Personally for me Pod was the consummate professional, always tried his hardest no matter what, treated the fans with respect and even now when he talks about Arsenal you can see he has fond memories, Auba on the other hand has been shit since he signed the new deal, had disciplinary issues multiple times and fucked off to Barca as soon as he could engineer the move so no they aren't comparable.
The Facts are not known about what happened with Auba, I am not taking sides, but we have already seen that Arteta's skills in terms of man management do not appear to be the strongest nor best.
Gwendouzi, Saliba and Clive being prime examples of where he seems to not be able to deal with them or their situation/s at Arsenal.
I just hope we get a better idea when the Amazon thing comes out, though of course the club will probably insist on having the last word when it comes to editorial-ship.

Really don’t think Amazon are going to capture every second of every training session / team meeting / private chat (punch-up) with the manager
From reports in the EDP local Norfolk paper it seems Norwich supporters were jumped and took a kicking as they left the ground having beaten Wolves in the cup.
If you’re travelling take care or a walking stick.

This is one of those moments when the scum slip up and we are poised to take advantage. I can't see Martinez-Lite doing anything but blowing this opportunity tbh.

I view Martinelli as the total opposite to Bergkamp. When Berkgamp received the ball he looked up. When Martinelli gets the ball he wants to run forward and take his man on.
In modern football you dont need to be a centre forward to get goals, there is more space outwide and players like Salah like to use that space to cut in.
I think Martinelli can play down the middle, & I would play him down the middle which would allow ESR to play on the right and Saka go to his preferred left. This way Lacazette gets dropped for ESR and we have better players on the field.
