We don't need loads of new players but my feeling is this is the time to spend both smart and big. Wenger's proved that he's got a superb group of players together, who already know each other well and whose collective quality will only improve with time.tenementfunster5 wrote:I dont think we need to spend big, but spend smart. We need the right players in the right places. Wenger knows what he is trying to do and achieve and will do what he thinks is right. It's in his interest to win things after all. Trust the boss and stick with the team.
And to get the best from that squad, it needs to be supplemented in a couple of crucial areas. The wings is the obvious one, and with Eduardo's injury, we also need to get a top forward in.
I don't agree with those who say we need a new centre back but I wouldn't object if Micah Richards were bought in readiness for taking over from Gallas.
Assuming Lehmann goes, we may have to sign a keeper but it's very likely to be an understudy to Almunia, so (whatever we think of Almunia) it won't be a massive signing.
But spending +£20million on a winger and a striker of the highest quality would be just what the doctor orders. I live in hope...
