That's the key thing here - six good months does not make him a great midfielder. I have an article on the front page comparing Flamini to Brian Marwood - time will tell.augie wrote: A lot of fans feel bitter cos he walked after just one good season in midfield.

I'm with you on that, although financially he's done very well, I think Flamini will end up regretting the move, he'll be Edu Mk II. He had the chance of playing alongside one of the world's best creative midfielders for the next few years but he's given that up.augie wrote:Quite a few of us believe however that he will only be a squad player at milan and that it will then prove to be a bad bad career move for a player looking to establish himself as a top player.
This idea that Flamini only gets a small amount more at Milan seems very naive. First, the before or after tax bit probably means he's on the equivalent of about £85k per week, which on a 4-year contract is worth about £17.7m. And I'm sure he got a decent wedge for a signing-on fee. The figure I've seen mentioned a few times is £4m. So he probably got about double the £11.4m that was on offer from Arsenal. That is serious money, and, even though they may have to go out and buy a new player, the club were right to resist paying that much money for a player who was a long way short of being one of our most important players.

100% agree with you there augie. Not only do I have a feeling he wont improve much on this seasons showing, but his status will drop also. Of all the top leagues around europe, italy is now the one of the least watched, not only on tv, but also in attendances. I read on tuesday in the guardian that the championship has higher gate figures than seria a. I think he will get a shock when he realises that he wont get as much column space as he got over here. One good season and he fucks off........SCUMaugie wrote:Flamini is a warrior end of story. His game is all about energy and hassling the shit out of better skillful players and it is something he is very good at so credit it to him for that. However lets not kid ourselves that at 24 years of age he is going to either improve or for that matter go backwards - he is what he is and will never be a cesc or even a pirlo no matter what team or league he plays in.
A lot of fans feel bitter cos he walked after just one good season in midfield and after talking mucho shite about his friends and that family athmosphere at our club. The bitterness is about money in that most feel he left to get more of it and in doing so we as a club got none. Quite a few of us believe however that he will only be a squad player at milan and that it will then prove to be a bad bad career move for a player looking to establish himself as a top player.
